FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server ...../dispatch.fcgi aborted: (first read) idle timeout (30 sec)
Hello,
I just did a "gem update" on my server updating to the latest version.
After this none of my scripts work.
In apache error log I get:
FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server
"/home/user/public_html/dispatch.fcgi" aborted: (first read) idle
timeout (30 sec)
My only guess is that the problem is related to the fastCGI binding but
I have no idea what to look for. I

Mister Anvin,
care to share what's the status of the "ld?" problemo,
is anyone working on it?
It would be maravilloso if syslinux can continue to build and test with latest and greatest.

Mount failed - icecast2 with ices
Ok so I finally realized that you need icecast2 for ogg streaming to work and
got the latest version of ices-0.2 installed. I am now unable to ever stream a
friggin mp3 never mind an ogg file. The server is up (icecast2) and I see it in
the web browser, when I try to run ices-0.2 I get the following errror. I am
running ices-0.2 as root and icecast2 as richard (might that be the problemo?)

predict (PR#2685)
There is a bug in `predict' whereby the order of variables sometimes gets
re-arranged compared to the original fit, and then disaster results.
Specifically, the 'variables' and 'predvars' attributes of a 'terms' object
get out of synch. This only happens when the terms in the original formula
get re-ordered during fitting:

icecast acceptable headers
the problem is probably that nsvcap most likely tries to attach using the
"shoutcast source" protocol, which is some strange variation of HTTP (but
definitely not HTTP).... It's strange-ness and non-HTTP-ness is the reason
why icecast doesn't support connecting the Shoutcast DSP to it. So I don't
think any magical combination of headers will get live NSV

Rails requests return dispatch.cgi (or .fcgi) file contents
I''m running Apache2 with CGI and FastCGI alternatively. I''ve had a
problem that I haven''t been able to find more than a single reference to
online.
When my .htaccess file has the CGI rewrite rule in effect, my Rails app
works. When I change to FastCGI, all I get for Rails requests is the
contents of the dispatch.fcgi file.
Thinking I may have screwed something up

FastCGI - how to relocate dispatch.fcgi outside of rails app
Howdy.
Due to a rather unique hosting setup, I need to relocate the
dispatch.fcgifile to a directory outside of
/path/to/application/public.
The setup looks like:
/path/to/content/RailsApp/ -- all application files
/path/to/fcgi-bin/RailsApp/ -- dispatch.fcgi
I''ve modified dispatch.fcgi to find environment.rb; however, all requests
for static files (index.html, javascripts, etc) fail

Dispatch.fcgi h-e-double hockey sticks...
Hello Everyone ~
Last week I started having a dispatch.fcgi process go out of control on my
Linux server. If I don''t catch it the process will eat my RAM, and devour
my swap file until the machine becomes non-responsive. I am running
Lighttpd and have not had any issues until lately.
The logs are not telling me anything useful, and as a quick fix I am running
the site using Mongrel,

dispatch.fcgi hanging after lighttpd shutdown
Hi.
I''m using RoR 1.0 with FastCGI and lighttpd on a Debian 3.1 box. I
have configured lighttpd to do adaptive spawning of the FastCGI
processes.
However, after shutting down lighttpd the FastCGI processes remain
running.
Did this problem occur to anyone of you? Is there a fix?
I''d be really grateful for every answer.

Manuel Holtgrewe

Manually running dispatch.fcgi fails
I''m a newbie trying to setup lighttpd. It is failing with error 500.
I tried running dispatch.fcgi by hand and I''m getting:
# ./dispatch.fcgi
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-1.2.5/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:200:in
`const_missing'': uninitialized constant RailsFCGIHandler (NameError)
from ./dispatch.fcgi:24
Not sure how to proceed from here.
