AW: Probleme with Kmeans...
Sorry, to solve your question I had tried: data(faithful) kmeans(faithful[c(1:20),1],10) Error: empty cluster: try a better set of initial centers But when I run this a second time it will be ok. It seems, that kmeans has problems to initialize good starting points, because of the random choose of these starting initial points. With kmeans(data,k,centers=c(...) the problem can be solved.

Rcmdr X11 protocol error message
I am using R 1.9.1 with R Commander GUI under Windows at work, and under Linux Mandrake 10 OR at home. I am having no problems running R Commander under windows. Under Linux, though, the opening and sometimes closing of windows from R Commander produces identical and repetitive error messages (in dialogue boxes and mirrored in the console): >"Warning: X11 protocol error: BadWindow

report generator a la epiinfo
Hi I'd like to use R in epidemiology and disease surveillance. In EpiInfo you can have a script (.pgm) which calls a predefined report (.rpt), where a table is calculated and values picked from that table and placed where the author of the report wants them, with text around those values. (Please see example below.) I've looked at manuals, faq, mail-search and google. The closest is an

Barplot and R 1.9.0
I would like to preface this by saying that I have not been using R for long, and consider myself a beginner. But the more I use and learn R, the more impressed I am with both the 'product' itself, and the efforts of those developing it. It has been noted (eg Duncan Murdoch, 15 April), that the barplot function in R 1.9.0, when used on a tabulated single factor, produces a plot only one

R and filemaker pro DB
I have been looking for a database application to use in conjunction with R (on a Windows network). When I approached my organization's IT department to ask about using MySQL, they made a counter-offer of Filemaker Pro (v8). It is not specifically mentioned in 'R Data Import/Export', nor do searches of the archives turn up much information. Does anyone have any experience using

Embedding samba...
Hi All, I am working on a port of Samba to the uClinux/ColdFire system. This is a port of Linux running on the Motorola ColdFire processors. These processors have no MMU, so no virtual memory. It also means that there is no true fork() call, only a vfork() type primitive is supported. Other than this the fact that there is no MMU is pretty transparent applications, it looks like any other Linux

HTML help search in R 2.6.0 v 2.6.1
I am running R on a corporate Windows XP SP2 machine on which I do not have administrator privileges or access to most settings in Control Panel. R is installed from my limited user account. The version of the JVM I have installed is perhaps best described as antique: > system(paste("java -version"),show.output.on.console=T) java version "1.4.1" Java(TM) 2 Runtime

inconsistency in treatment of USE.NAMES argument
Changing the vapply() behavior makes sense in principle. I analyzed the CRAN code base using the R parser and found 143 instances of calling vapply with USE.NAMES=FALSE. These would need to be inspected to understand the consequences of the change. For reference: /AzureML/R/datasets.R:226 /BBmisc/R/toRangeStr.R:33 /DBI/R/DBDriver.R:205 /Kmisc/R/str_rev.R:37 /Matrix/R/diagMatrix.R:98

Hello R masters, I have sent this same message to other lists and none so far could give some light. I was trying to use odfWeave to generate a report from R and Im getting an error that I think is related to latin characters. Epi Info
Hello: Does anybody knows if Epi Info, from CDC (www.cdc.gov/epiinfo) runs on Wine? I did try AppDB first but there are no entries for Epi Info. Epi Info is a data base for epidemiology and public-heath developed by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA) and heavilly used in the world. It is based on Access 97 or 2000 witch I found in Frank's Corner AppDB. Thank you, Gerson
