fdim problems
hi I am trying to use the add-on package fdim to calculate fractal dimesionality of some time series data. I keep getting an error - trying to run simple example from the help pages Error in if (MaxDiff > Chi2) { : missing value where logical needed when I set the debug option of the function slopeopt() I get the following read out... Problem with the fdim package
Hi, I?m new to R but I?m interested in using the fdim package to find the fractal dimension of a dataset. I downloaded the the package from https://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/fdim/ and successfully installed it together with xgobi. However, when I try to run the first example, after df <- fdim(mydata,q=0,Alpha=0.3) I get the following error: Error in .C("pointdif",

Box-counting dimension and package 'fdim'
Dear R-helpers, I am looking for an implementation of the box-counting algorithm to estimate the box dimension of a cloud of points in 3D (aka fractal dimension, or similarity dimension). The package 'fdim' might be doing this, but the documentation is awful and I don't understand what is what there. Does anyone know of an implementation of this algorithm in R, or elsewhere, or

fractal dimension of an image
Hello, I have a problem that I think can be solved in R but I'm not sure how to tie things together. I have a digital image of a crystal growth in 2 dimensions. And my aim is to calculate the fractal dimension of the crystal. I was planning to use the box counting method. So I need to read in the image in R (for which I can use the pixmap or rimage packages) and then draw a grid over at a

fdim questions
R-users: My problem: the package fdim (which measures fractal dimensions of datasets) apparently prefers 3-D (XYZ) datasets. I'm trying to measure the information dimension (a type of fractal dimension) of a 2-D (XY) dataset. Here's some examples of the preferred 3-D data (XYZ): library(fdim) XYZ <- (makehplane(NumN=300, DimM=3, Longit=300)) fdim(XYZ,q=0.999999,PlotF=TRUE)

Problem with the fdim package
Hm, I am not an expert in this field but trying to use obviously old package which was removed about 5 years ago from CRAN is asking for problems. There is probably some incompatibility between recent R version and obsolete package. You either 1. need to install/compile R version from 2012 and install/compile this old package for this version. 2. Or you could try to find some similar

Hello group. I am trying to install fdim on my win2000 os. this command is giving error and I feel I am not using it correctly, could some one show me why. install.packages(fdim, "C:\Program Files\R\rw1081\library" , CRAN = "http://cran.r-project.org", "internal", available = NULL, destdir = "C:\Program Files\R\rw1081\library", installWithVers =

fractal vs. Fractal packages
Dear R People: At one time, there were packages called fractal and Fractal, respectively, which had different functions. I can't seem to find Fractal any more. Does it still exist somewhere, please? Thanks in advance for any help! Sincerely, Erin -- Erin Hodgess Associate Professor Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences University of Houston - Downtown mailto: erinm.hodgess

Interface between fractal geometry and statistics
Are there any packages that help with statistical analysis in situations where fractal geometry is relevant? Perhaps something that supports computation of fractal related statistics, such as the Hurst exponent or fractal dimension? Or perhaps which support obvious tasks such as taking samples from a dataset at different levels of granularity (such as sampling spatial data at cm, m, km

'fractal' package
https://rdrr.io/rforge/fractal/ https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/fractal/fractal.pdf Hi, I am trying to learn about nonlinear time series, and fractal time series analysis in particular. I am interested in becoming proficient with the 'fractal' package. I have two specific questions: 1. I have a basic understanding of ARMA and ARIMA models. Can someone recommend

fractal package
Greetings of Peace! I am new in R software. I want to use the correlation dimension corrDim in computing a map. I have installed the packages(fractal) in R. Now my problem is this, when I tried your example in the following site http://rgm2.lab.nig.ac.jp/RGM2/func.php?rd_id=fractal:corrDim  > library(fractal) > png(filename="corrDim_%03d_med.png", width=480, height=480) >

Fractal Explorer is messy
Hello, I want to use Fractal Explorer, which is freeware and available from http://www.eclectasy.com/Fractal-Explorer/ ,under Wine. It mostly works, however the main window doesn't redraw correctly, it shows the background. This image shows what happen: http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/3786/blahqnm.jpg Any sollutions? Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (fractal pkg) troubleshooting
I'm working with the DFA (detrended fluctuation analysis) function in the package fractal on postural sway data, and for the life of me can't get the results to turn out as they should given what my data looks like. The data resemble a random walk, but the Hurst exponent estimates that I'm getting at ~0.9 instead of ~1.4, which is the value a researcher I've been working with

re: box counting method and other landscape ecology measures
Hi all, I wish to implement various landscape ecology measures through R, such as: box counting dimension; twist number statistics; contagion and lacuniarity indices; angular second moment; adjacency measures; dominance indices; etc ... Some of the measures can be applied to shape analysis and classification. Is anyone implementing any of these measures? If so I would like to contribute and

[SoC 2009] will R Foundation participate? project proposal: fractal analysis
Hello R developers, I know it is still a bit early to talk about Summer of Code, but I wish to know what are, approximately, plans for this year. Last year I applied as a student under OSGeo with a QGIS-R project and had a very positive experience [0], therefore I plan to participate again. I found an interesting hint [1], about implementing fractal analysis in R, and a would-be mentor has

problems with cygnus fractal extreme
i cannot seem to get this app to run properly in wine. Bruce, who is the programmer of it, told me he would be happy to make whatever changes are necessary to make it work with wine, so if it's something on his end, could somebody on the team reach out to him and help him get it going? his website is: http://cygnus-software.com/ I love fractals, and want to take full advantage of my i7
