stars graphs
Hi listers, A few days ago I posted a question about the use of the stars function on selected lines of a frame. Thanks to two helpers, a closer look at the scale argument allowed to partially solve the problem. Yet I still have a problem with stars. Allow me to explain what I intend to do (sorry for my poor English and the long post): I want to graph an activity index of a fish during the day

different legends in lattice panels
Hi listers, I want to make lattice plots xyplots with the indication of legends inside each panel with only the points and the lines actually ploted inside each given panel according to the group(ing) factor. The code below shows what I have achieved so far and I hope will make clear what I want to have. It seems to me that my solution is a very "dirty hack" and there certainly is

Why copying columns of a data.frame becomes numeric?
Dear list, I want the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th columns of mtcars. After copying them, the columns become numeric class rather than data frame. But, when I copy rows, they data frame retains its class. Why is this? I don't see why copying rows vs columns is so different. > class(mtcars) [1] "data.frame" > head(mtcars) mpg cyl disp hp drat wt qsec vs

search contrasts tutorial
I'm looking for a tutorial or notes on the use of contrasts factor in linear model in R, I've found some mails and infos about in various documents about R, but I've probably missed a good review on this subject. -- Robert Espesser Laboratoire Parole et Langage UMR 6057, CNRS 29 Av. Hi dear listers, In R 1.7 under linux, if I try to edit a vector, it can be edit using any editor: z<- c(1,2,3,4) edit(z) #opens vi edit(z, editor="gnumeric") #opens "z" in gnumeric edit(z, editor="gedit") #opens "z" in gedit It is similar in Windows98 (R 1.8) : edit(z) #opens z in notepad edit(z, editor="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft

position of given values labels in coplot
Hello dear listers, I can't find a way to align the given values labels when using coplot. The labels always appear like a stair. Is there a way to modify this ? I searched the help and archives but was unable to find out. Any help would be much appreciated, Tito -- L. Tito de Morais UR RAP IRD de Dakar BP 1386 Dakar S?n?gal T?l.: + 221 849 33 31 Fax: +221

odfWeave - A loop of the "same" data
Before I go and do this another way - can I check if anyone has a way of looping through data in odfWeave (or possibly sweave) to do a repeating analysis on subsets of data? For simplicity lets use mtcars dataset in R to explain. Dataset looks like this: > mtcars mpg cyl disp hp drat wt ... Mazda RX4 21.0 6 160 110 3.90 2.62 ... Mazda RX4 Wag 21.0 6 160 110 3.90

efficiently diff two data frames
Dear all, What is the quickest and most efficient way to diff two data frames, so as to obtain a vector of indices (or logical) for rows/columns that differ in the two data frames? For example, > Xe <- head(mtcars) > Xf <- head(mtcars) > Xf[2:4,3:5] <- 55 > all.equal(Xe, Xf) [1] "Component 3: Mean relative difference: 0.6863118" [2] "Component 4: Mean relative

read table
Hi, I'm a novice of R. I want to read the following table into R: names mpg cyl disp hp drat Mazda RX4 21.0 6 160.0 110 3.90 Mazda RX4 Wag 21.0 6 160.0 110 3.90 The command I used is: > test <- read.table(file.choose(),header=T) The result is: Error in read.table(file.choose(), header = T) : more columns than column names

the first name of the first column
Dear all; I need to run heatmap. Because my first column in my data is alphanumeric, I can not run as.matrix(scale(my_data)). So I need to make my data readable as in data(mtcars). In *mtcars *data the first column is alphanumeric and has no name. Thanks, Greg [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Questions about results from PCAproj for robust principal component analysis
Hi. I have been looking at the PCAproj function in package pcaPP (R 2.4.1) for robust principal components, and I'm trying to interpret the results. I started with a data matrix of dimensions RxC (R is the number of rows / observations, C the number of columns / variables). PCAproj returns a list of class princomp, similar to the output of the function princomp. In a case where I can

Hi at all! i'm trying to use glusterfs for the first time and have the following problem: I want to have two nodes. On node1 I have a raid1-sytem running in /raid/storage Both nodes see the other and now I try to create a volume. While I create the first volume on a fresh system (node1) for the first time, gluster said: volume create: glustervolume: failed: /raid/storage/ or a prefix of it
