Problem with read.table()
Dear all, I have encountered a strange problem with read.table(). When I try to read a tab delimited file I get an error message for line 260 not being equal to 14 (see below). Using count.fields() suggests that a number of lines have length not equal to 14, but not 260. Looking at the actual file, however, I cannot see anything wrong with any lines. They all seem to have length 14, there

smooth non cumulative baseline hazard in Cox model
Hi everyone. There's been several threads on baseline hazard in Cox model but I think they were all on cumulative baseline hazard, for instance http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01a/0464.html http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/01a/0436.html "basehaz" in package survival seems to do a cumulative hazard. extract from the basehaz function: sfit <- survfit(fit) H

[PATCH] Make com32 printf obey width-restriction on %s
Hi, The following patch is against 3.36. It lets the width-modifier to the %s conversion specifier restrict the length of the formatted string as well as expand it. In addition, it adds the strnlen function, which only exists as a prototype today. -- Arne. --- syslinux-3.36/com32/lib/Makefile.orig 2007-02-10 21:47:07.000000000 +0100 +++ syslinux-3.36/com32/lib/Makefile 2007-04-12

Hi, I have a really dumb qustion, but I can''t find an answer in "Agile Rails" or any other hand holder. And, it is a difficult topic to search for in google. What controller/view is used for the home page of a site? I get how to create new controllers, but I don''t get at all how to change content on the home page. thanks, matt On 12/14/05, Austin Ziegler

Slow printing in batch?
For doumentation purposes I run a batch R program that does reshaping etc. of data and finally prints things. When I paste the code into an R-window everything runs in a few seconds, but in Batch mode i get in the output file the result below. Any clues why R uses 4 min to print a 1129\times 6 dataframe in batch mode? The scrit I use to run R is: c:\stat\r\%R_VERS%\bin\Rterm --no-restore

When using ACF, receive error: no applicable method for 'ACF' applied to an object of class "c('double', 'numeric')"
I am guessing this is a very simple question, but this is only my second day with R so it is all still a bit imposing. I am trying to run an autocorrelation. I imported a CSV file, which has one column labeled "logistic". I ran the command: ACF(data$logistic,maxLag=10) However, I received the error: Error in UseMethod("ACF") : no applicable method for 'ACF'

Help with faster optimization for large parameter problem
Hello all, I have a large parameter problem with the following very simple likelihood function: fn<-function(param) { x1<-param[1:n] g1<-param[(n+1):(2*n)] beta<-param[(2*n+1):(2*n+k)] sigma2<-param[2*n+k+1]^2 meang1sp<-mean(g1[sp]) mu<-beta%*%matrix(x1,1,n)-(g1[sp]-meang1sp)%*%matrix(g1,1,n) return(sum((ydc-mu)^2)/(2*sigma2) + n*k*log(sqrt(sigma2)) +

Help with acf
I would like to get the result of acf min of lag 2 and max of lag 50. When I use time series ( acf, lag.max = 50, type="covariance"), I got lag 0 to lag 50. How do I get lag 2 to lag 50? Sincerely, Stephen

time series with NA - acf - tsdiag - Ljung-Box
Hi all, I am modelling a time series with missing data. *Q1)* However, I am not sure if I should use the next *graphics* to understand my data: *a)* ACF & PACF (original series) *b)* ACF & PACF (residuals) * * *Q2)* I am using *tsdiag*, so I obtain a graphic with 3 plots: stand. residuals vs time; acf for residuals; Ljung-Box for residuals (it is wrong for residuals). I know that using

acf?
I started to check what I thought I knew with autocovariance and it doesn’t jive with the the calculations given by ‘R’. I was wondering if there is some scaling or something that I am not aware of. Take the example Ø d <- 1:10 Ø (a <- acf(d, type="covariance", demean=FALSE, plot=FALSE)) Autocovariances of series ‘d’, by lag 0 1 2 3 4 5 6

Help needed regarding acf
Hi, When I plot the auto co-relation function (acf), 2 blue lines appear near the base. Can anyone tell me what they mean? Also can anyone tell me how to print the graphs that are generated. There is a print option but when I click on it, it doesn''t seem to do anything. Is copying the graph as a bitmap file in paint the only way out? Thanks for any help. Regards, Shalini Catch
