auto_complete :on_show :on_hide
Hi, Trying to use the auto_complete options of :on_show and :on_hide.... ......, :on_hide => "function(element, update) {allow_change_control(true);} " but when I do this it runs my js function but the div doesn''t hide. I would like the auto_complete to work normally and just run a js function which sets a js variable. Any suggestions Thanks

How do you use :on_hide in auto_complete_field?
I''m trying to get some auto_complete_field stuff going, and I have them working for the most part, but I can''t quite get how the :on_hide option works. I''m hoping that I can populate a hidden field with the id of the chosen record with it...is that going to be possible? Thanks for your help. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Hrm, :after on auto_complete_field helper ?
Okay, urm, here is the problem :) I have an auto_complete field that gets back a set of three values, so, ideally, I thought I would put the :after tag on the auto_complete_field, use a little custom javascript function that splits it up and flings it into the other values, except, call me stupid, but, auto_complete_field doesn''t have an :after tag ? At least, I can''t see

auto_complete_field Vs text_field_with_auto_complete
Hi, I want to know which of the two methods, auto_complete_field and text_field_with_auto_complete best suits what I am trying to do. I have a model class called search (which doen''t extend ActiveRecord) which holds two parameters, category_string and postcode_string. I want my form to bind its values to these to values. I also want the category input to be an auto complete field

auto_complete_field help
Not sure what I am doing wrong. Here is what i am trying to do (code to follow). I have a form to create a new book. This book can have many authors and I wanted to be able to add the authors based on if they appear in the authors table. I originally was going about it a long and arduous way where I had several forms. After thinking about it I decided to dynamically add new fields to

auto_complete_field does not update display:none
Hi, text_field_with_auto_complete works. auto_complete_field almost works, the only problem is that it does not update the display:none default attribute of the div that receives the results. So the results are there, but I can''t see them. I compared both html, and they look the same. Only CSS differs, but updating the display:none should only happen in the javascript code. Who ran

Effect.Highlight interferes with Effect.toggle
I''m using something like an accordion, but the div containers have some elements in them that use Effect.Highlight (i.e. InPlaceEditor and Ajax.Checkbox, one of my SAU classes). If I click the element that starts the Effect.SlideUp or some other similar effect, and then mouse over an element starting an Effect.Highlight, the highlight cancels the SlideUp. Or, if the Effect.Highlight

Indexed Text Input -> Ajax with Helpers
Hello again. I can get my input forms doing what I want using the '':index => object_counter'' syntax which is very nice. However, the Ajax text_input_with_auto_complete seem not to be able to account for the :index. I can see in the source why this is the case. I have a workaround that is an ugly kludge. I am wondering if there is any less-ugly kludge that I can try.

Noob DRY method question

[scriptaculous] scroll down to show full auto completion list (w/ possible patch)
Hi everyone, lately I''ve implemented an auto completion textfield at the bottom of a form. I was a bit bothered by the fact that the user would potentially need to scroll down in order to see all the options offered by the auto completion. I couldn''t find any information on how to auto scroll to the auto completion list with bulit-in functionality so I modified controls.js

About that auto-complete select box ...
Cross posted from the "RoR:Talk" board... This is more a CSS question than a Rails one. In AWDwR, in the script.aculo.us section talking about auto-completion, it says "It is worth highlighting that there is no JavaScript to enable the arrow-up, arrow-down, highlight behavior of the list. It is enough to provide the stylesheet above; it turns out that all <ul> tags support

[PATCH server] Update app to work with rails 2.3.2
Note that this does not fix gettext for app, that will be done separately in another patch as F10/F11 require different setups for that. In the meantime gettext works if manually changed in environment.rb to gettext_rails instead of gettext/rails Signed-off-by: Jason Guiditta <jason.guiditt at gmail.com> --- src/app/controllers/application.rb | 200 --------

Autocompleter.Local problem/desparate plea for help...
I have been trying to write a selector function for Autocompleter.Local that will show a predefined Array and will scroll automatically to the first match. I have had success with with getting my list to populate and show all of the choices, however I cannot get it to scroll to the first match. Since I build the JS Array I can know exactly how many items are in the list going into my selector,
