RoR on a VPS
I''m looking for a virtual private server to run a RoR site accessing a database on a different machine. This is a small application - basically a form to add records, and a few summary screens. What are the minimal requirements for a vps? Thanks. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Validating Foreign Key
Howdy, I''m a Rails beginner working on my first significant project with RoR. I''m trying to figure out how to validate a foreign key (you know, make sure the row actually exists.) However, validates_associated doesn''t seem to be what I want to use, nor does it work... -- BEGIN -- class City < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :schools belongs_to :state

Seeking Validation - search web service using memcached
Hi, I''m looking for some validation for some work I''ve done for a client, and I''m open to criticism ("mock me" ? ;^), relevant awareness of similar projects, and alternatives. When I looked around in about September 2007 for a good scalable search solution for Ruby on Rails, I found the choices lacking. Firstly, none of the solutions seemed to have an option

outer function problems
I'm pulling my hair (and there's not much left!) on this one. Basically I'm not getting the same result t when I "step" through the program and evaluate each element separately than when I use the outer() function in the FindLikelihood() function below. Here's the functions: Dk<- function(xk,A,B) { n0 *(A*exp(-0.5*(xk/w)^2) + B) } FindLikelihood <-

false convergence (8) after removal of the two-way interaction
Dear All, I am working with a generalized linear mixed-effects model with poisson error using the lme4 package in R. I created a model with the lmer function including some main effects, three two way interactions and two random effects. The model works well, but I have troubles when removing on of the two-way interactions. The Warning message: "In mer_finalize(ans) : false convergence

C, PHP, RoR Programmer position in Sydney
People, I am in a hurry to fill a programmer/developer position for an insurance company in Sydney, Australia. Since we have started the process of looking at Rails as a future development environment I thought I might be able to find an appropriate person from this list faster than going through the usual advertising/agencies route. If we can find someone appropriate I would like them to start

[Hivex][PATCH v2] Report last-modified time of hive root and nodes
The infrastructure for modified-time reporting has been essentially unused. These changes report the registry time by treating the time fields as Windows filetime fields stored in little-Endian (which means they can be treated as a single 64-bit little-Endian integer). This patch adds the node_mtime function to the visitor API. Signed-off-by: Alex Nelson <ajnelson at cs.ucsc.edu> ---

My apologies if you will receive this twice as I posted it to the RForum forum yesterday. My understanding is that it is a separate forum. Gently disabuse me of this notion if I am mistaken. [paste] Thanks for allowing me to post to your community board. First, let me just say that we are looking to hire someone who is interested in and has been delving into RoR. [Hivex] [PATCH v3] Report last-modified time of hive root and nodes
The infrastructure for modified-time reporting has been essentially unused. These changes report the registry time by treating the time fields as Windows filetime fields stored in little-Endian (which means they can be treated as a single 64-bit little-Endian integer). recursive function help
I'm trying to implement a recursive function using integrate, and I suspect I need a Vectorize somewhere, but I can't suss it out. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried traceback() and various debugging ideas to no avail (most likely due to my inexperience with these tools.) Here's what I have. Nk <- function(m, C) { if (length(m) > 1) { rho <- C[1, -1]
