Acts_as_authenticated plugin?
Hi, I''ve just downloaded the acts_as_authenticated plugin but I can''t find much in the way of documentation. First is there anywhere that someone could point me to to get a handle on this. Second.. Does the plugin still require the use of generators to use? Thanx in advance Dan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

is there a way to not repeat installing plugins?
i seem to be using the same plugins for all my sites and was wondering if there is a way to make the process easier and faster? is this what is called by "packing your own gems"? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk"

newbie q: acts as authenticated or login engine?
I''m trying to create a basic web page where people can register. Before they are approved they are emailed a link where that they must click in order to verify their info is correct (or at least their email). Should I use acts as authenticated or the login engine for this? http://technoweenie.stikipad.com/plugins/show/Acts+as+Authenticated http://rails-engines.org/login_engine TIA

Now i''ve got one admin folder for controllers, one for views, public folder and i''m not really sure if it''s still possible. So what is the easiest way? I don''t have any user logging features on my site,

Removing Rows/Records from a Table
I would like to selectively remove rows from a table. I had hoped that I could create a table and selectively add rows with something like > NewTable<-table(nrow=100, ncol=4) > NewTable[1,]<-OldTable[10,] but that doesn't work. The former call gives > NewTable ncol nrow 4 100 1 while the latter call gives a table the length of OldTable. Making a matrix, m, with the

How to pass selection criteria in a function
Hi, Suppose I have the following data name     score Abel        88 Baker      54 Charlie    77 stored a  table called myData. I want to write a function that will create a table which is a subset of myData containing those have a score > 75. Can you create a MySQL database with RMySQL?
Is it possible to create a database in MySQL via RMySQL? Also, is the format for the authorization field 'userName/password at databasename'? I saw an example like this somewhere in the documenation, but I haven't found the actual specification. Thanks, Barnet Wagman

Forms with and without Models and Error Handling
Hi, I currently programming a delicious clone to understand ruby on rails. The problem I''ve got is that I prefill a form (form without models) without a database connection and then save it into the database. For validation i am using the validation helper methods. My Problem is that i don''t know how I get the error hash from the helper method validates... etc. because I

working with tables -- was Re: Mode (statistics) in R?
Ok, so I'm slowly figuring out what a factor is, and was able to follow the related thread about finding a mode by using constructs like my_mode = as.numeric(names(table(x))[which.max(table(x))]) Now, suppose I want to keep looking for other modes? For example, Rgames> sample(seq(1,10),50,replace=TRUE)->bag Rgames> bag [1] 2 8 8 10 7 3 2 9 8 3 8 9 6 6 10 10 7 1

Hi, My work with Rails has been fairly straightforward, until yesterday... I''ve encountered rather a peculiar problem that I''m not able to solve myself as a rails-newbie. Engine Not Starting
I''ve used login_engine successfully before with webrick, and now using a provider that uses fcgi. login_engine doesn''t seem to start up, in the development log file, I get only routing errors for the page requested. The login_engine unit tests pass fine. My question is if an engine is not loaded, not in a path, etc, how is this indicated in rails? None of the log files even

Multi-line paste function
Here's my contribution to R. When R interacts with external programs (MySQL, cURL, etc.), it often requires a pasted string that is sent to these programs. For readability reasons, it is often preferable to have complex commands (SQL for example) spread on several lines. However, the normal paste function requires to add additional ' ", ' at the end of each line and another '
