Mousehole stuff
Hey everyone, I''m using mousehole for the first time today (love the artwork, btw) and I seem to be having problems with Camping and Markaby. When I go to the Apps page I get: Camping Problem! MouseHole::Controllers::RApps.GET TypeError /Users/tzaharia/Sites/mouseHole/lib/mouseHole/views.rb:78:in `+'': can''t convert String into Array:bla bla bla... The line in question

Exclude & --delete not working?
Hi there, we have an odd problem, which maybe how rsync is intended to work, but I think not: On server side, we run rsync in daemon mode with a share [foo] that has a serverside path of /foo. On client side, we invoke rsync -zavuSH --delete server::foo/ /foo. The rsync daemon uses an exclusion list. The problem is, the client rsync deletes clientside whatever is in the exclusionlist. If I read

Updatable "datagrid" with ajax support? Is there any code/approach I can leverage?
Hi, I want to have a page in my Ruby on Rails application that is like a dynamic / updateable data grid. Like a matrix or spreadsheet segment (x rows, y columns) which one can click in any of the cells and make an update, which triggers some AJAX code to fire off the update, and then the responses come back and update whatever else needs updating based on this change. Is there a prototype

Generic asset definitions and management
(The following is not a Rails-specific question, but relates to a problem that affects Rails, so I wonder whether anyone on the team has an opinion about it or knows whether a solution is already in development.) While gem dependencies can be easily managed in a Gemfile by Bundler, when it comes to other assets, you either have to manually copy javascript files into the app/assets or vendor

Receive more information about transfer problems in server log?
Hi all, I'm probably using the most basic rsync-setup: just running the rsync-daemon and use plain transfers (no encryption or other shells, plain rsync). Transfer logging is enabled. I've got a lot of client machines rsyncing their backups, both Linux and Windows. For some rsyncs, the log tells me this: > 2007/02/23 02:42:04 [29077] connect from ***.nl (*.*.*.*) > 2007/02/23

Announcing - AstJax click2call Firefox greasemonkey script - click and dial phone numbers in any webpage
Hi there, Just to announce that I've improved upon a greasemonkey script which allows users to dial any number (in the given regex format) by turning it into a clickable hyperlink. The script uses greasemonkey's ajax callback to a simple php controller script, so that the click does not navigate away from the current page. It requires an Asterisk Manager connection. See

Greasemonkey question
Hello all, Sorry about going a bit off-topic (the question is not really Linux-related) but here it goes nonetheless: 1) How does one create a webpage with a Greasemonkey script that is installable? 2) Why does it happen that a Firefox installation in a user's account (i.e., the configuration which amongst other things contains Greasemonkey scripts) would all of a sudden lose them? Thanks.

GlusterFS on a FreeBSD-Server
Hello I want to use GlusterFS as a nfs substitute for a FreeBSD Server and Linux clients. The FreeBSD-server should export several directories. One of these directories contains the home-directory for the client-mashines. The problem is that my GlusterFS setup isn't very stable and crashes quite often. It is less stable, when more than one volume is mounted, but even when only one volume is

Maxima and Ruby Integration
I''m looking to write a javascript heavy clientside program with a something serverside backend that connects to the free maxima math program. I have extensive knowledge of ruby on rails, so I would prefer to call Maxima with ruby, but I don''t know if this is even possible. Its fairly easy to call Maxima (with a lisp implementation) using ANSI C, it is a little less easy to

OCFS - NFS
Hi, well i mounted the OCFS drive over nfs, but it seems to have problems with it, because the NFS does not detect changes (if I add or delete files) the nfs shares still shows the old status. If i delete a file on the OCFS volume, and i am doing a "ls" on one of the nfs clients, it says for every file which was on the ocfs, "no such file or directory". Did I miss

Vorbis still glitching on metadata update?
Greetings, I am trying to track down a bug with intermittant glitching in our Vorbis streams. I am running Icecast 2.3.2 on Ubuntu 9.04. Several Vorbis clients seem to glitch on some (not all) metadata updates. As we update metadata 3 to 4 times a minute, this is something we are trying to fix, VLC gives the following output on metadata update: main warning: the mixer got a packet in

Newbie Question: Can I setup mongrel as a proxy between a browser and the web?
I am trying to create a proxy which I can route my browser requests through in order to gather information on the web page loading. At this time I am particularly interested in the many GET requests associated with loading a single web page. Note: This does not have anything to do with rails, my goal is to run a ruby app in the background, set firefox to proxy all requests through it, log those
