can''t get rails to connect to mySQL - HELP!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, but this is really NOT as easy as the tutorials/books make out. I''m really struggling at the first hurdle here. And while I''m not a programmer by design I do know my way around most stuff. And if I can''t get this to work I suspect more people will have the same issues. There seems to be too many variables to address. I have winXP, I have ruby and rails all

file_column just will not work...
Hello, I have been trying for some time to get a file to upload using the file_column plugin. My code is here: http://pastie.caboo.se/7304 But my code is not the issue. I cannot even pass the unit test that come with the file_column plugin. If I run ruby file_column_test.rb i get: 1) Error: test_store_dir_callback(FileColumnTest): TypeError: can''t convert Fixnum into String

Anyone got a copy of File_Column trunk
Anyone able to post a copy of the svn trunk of file_column? The website''s been down for the past few days, and I''ve only got the last release (0.31, I think), which is missing a whole load of goodies. Tx

second assert_tag failling in rails integration test
Hi all, I''m fairly new to rails and ruby, but I''ve come across an interesting glitch and I''m not sure whether I''ve just got something wrong with my assumptions or if it really is an error in the underlying framework... I''ve created a bare-bones set of tests to show you where the problem is. What follows are the steps I went through to reproduce the

file_column with both root_path and store_dir
I store my file_column database outside of my RAILS_ROOT. It seems to work in real life, but not in tests. In the tests, I can''t set both the root_path and the store_dir. In tests, setting the store_dir option will override the root_path option. The only way for root_path to work is to remove store_dir. I think the problem is in file_column.rb on line 22: options[:store_dir]

file_column
I use file_column and it works fine. I tried to change the store_dir to a the path I want my files to be stored and not the default. I stored some images fine. But when I try to reach my images it seems like file_column uses the model_name/attribute_name on the image and not the store_dir I used. How can I change this ? Thanks in advance -- Alexander Antonakakis

is assert_select_rjs deprecated in Rails 3.1 ?
I have seen it in 3.0.9 doc ( http://apidock.com/rails/v3.0.9/ActionDispatch/Assertions/SelectorAssertions/assert_select_rjs ) but it''s not mentioned in the latest guide ( http://guides.rubyonrails.org/testing.html#integration-testing-examples) if deprecated how can I check the view from an Ajax call ( assert_match + gsub could work ? ... ) am I missing any doc ? xhr :get, :change_area,

Cucumber Selenium web step to verify value of input field
I have an input field with an id which has a value. The web_steps.rb method does not find the value. Is this the right step to use to check an input field? It works fine for a text_area but not an input. Scenario steps (tried both ways): Then the "travel_card_number_gate" field should contain "5" Then the "#travel_card_number_gate" field should contain "5"

[Request] file_column configurability
I wasn''t sure where to email this request, so I am hoping the author of file_column actually sees this. I was wondering if there were any plans to allow some configurability in the file_column plugin. By configurability I mean allowing the developer to define which table column is used as the unique identifier when creating image folders. Right now it seems like it uses the ID of the

file_column plugin. Storing files outside RAILS_ROOT
I also posted this on Rails Engines forum. Sorry for the double post. I am trying to configure file_column plugin so that it stores the images in a directory completely outside of RAILS_ROOT. I have no problems in storing the files by setting :root_path option. But I can''t get to display these images using ''url_for_file_column''. What I get instead of the image is

Handling closed clients
We have a service that clients use to upload files. We have a couple of clients that are on slow links and so their upload times out. We get errors in the logs that I''d like to get rid of. I was hoping that the recent commit 24b9f66dcdda44378b4053645333ce9ce336b413 would help us, but it does not. After digging in a bit, I have some ideas about why and a patch I''d like comments

file_column and HABTM
I have several models that will be using file_column by way of the "Picture" class (HABTM). Right now, all pictures are stored in: public/picture/image/1/filename1.jpg public/picture/image/2/filename2.jpg Is there a way I can dynamically define the "store_dir" based on the model? For example, if I have "user", "product" and "place" models all

in_place_collection_editor
Hi, I''m trying to write a helper for Scriptaculous'' InPlaceCollectionEditor component. I''ve already submitted a patch (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4302). This was a drunk patch; it needs a bit of work (Don''t drink & code!). So far I''ve gotten it to work correctly with normal collections, but I want to use it for belongs_to relations as

Filecolumn storage location
Hi, I am using file_column for some image uploading. I want to have all the images stored under one root which I have managed by setting the :store_dir option as below. file_column :filename, :store_dir => File.join(RAILS_ROOT, ''public'', ''images'', ''products'') So, my images get uploaded to: /public/images/products/<primary_key>

file_column and custom store_dir
I''m using file_column to store mulitple versions of an image in a custom directory "images/artwork/" with the :store_dir option. This is working fine for uploading and storing the images, but whenever I try and access the images with the url_for_file_column helper it keeps generating the default path. I thought it would replace this by default, but it doesn''t seem to.

Testing the flash is brittle?
Hello all, I seem to have an annoying habit of realizing that I''ve asked a question with a blindingly obvious answer just after I''ve asked it but here goes. I''ve noticed that in my functional tests there''s the occasional reliance on the contents of the flash. For example, I have an action that confirms a users identity and may reject them because A)

Whence "post" in a description?
I''m having the exact problem described in this earlier post: http://www.nabble.com/Odd-response.body-behavior-to12837556.html#a12837556 That is, after a post, response.body is just the controller/view string ("user/login" in my case). Failing to find any answer on the web, I''m trying to trace execution, but hitting a bit of a snag. I''m tracing the ancestry
