underscores ($name_$foo) in string assignments
Hello In a component, I was trying to do: $bar = "lets make a new string with $name_$foo in it." however the "$name_" fails to appear in the resulting string: "lets make a new string with valueOfFoo in it." Is there something special about $name_ here? If I replace the underscore with a dash (... $name-$foo ... ) it works fine. thanks Jesse Jesse

Dashes in node names
Hi, I'am using a script which manages the setup of nodes. This depends on zeroconf and so the tinc node name and the hostname must match. But tinc doesn't allow dashes in node names. Is this really is necessary? Dashes in hostnames are not really uncommon. Is there something which prevents appling such a diff?: ----- start diff ----- diff -ruNp tinc-1.0.13/src/protocol.c

Builder::XmlMarkup and dashes
Has anyone hacked Builder::XmlMarkup to dasherize underscore tags by default? I know I can use tag!, but I''d like to find a way for it to translate underscores to dashes automatically. In other words: xml.department_manager do "fred end #=> <department-manager>fred</department-manager> I tried hacking Builder::XmlBase.method_missing but got myself all twisted up!

Node variable names with dashes..
Hi all I''ve stumbled upon something that I consider a bug: Node variables can''t have dashes in them: node blah { $allow-from = "127.0.0.1" } err: Could not parse; using old configuration: Could not match ''- from'' at /home/mercurial/repositories/manifests/nodes/nodes.pp:8 I''m using the variable to create a template-based config file.

help with winbind and groups
Hello, I have winbind working well out of the box. However, I am having problems with using groups to restrict ssh access to the box. I have a feeling there are some tricks that I haven't thought of yet. Here is the relevant parts of smb.conf: workgroup = FOO password server = server.foo.local realm = FOO.LOCAL security = ads idmap uid = 10000-20000 idmap gid =

[nbdkit PATCH v2] server: Permit - in plugin names
Use of - does not need shell quoting, and aids legibility in multi-word plugin or filter names. Permitting both - and _ would be ambiguous (not to mention that things like 'man nbdkit-foo_bar-plugin' would look ugly), so prefer only the character that is easier for human use. Permitting a leading - would be ambiguous with options, but restricting to a letter as the first character would

R 1.8.1 - 1.9.0 incompatability: Underscore in syntactically valid names
Dear R-gang, I have a question about handling underscores in names in R 1.8.1 and 1.9.0. I recently installed 1.9.0 on a machine and found that many codes no longer work as a result of the changed behavior in make.names. I have numerous data files that have dashes, periods and underscores in the header row. I've got numerous R codes that read those files with read.table and read.csv and

start_form_tag n00b question
Hi, I''m wondering if there is any way to specify the id of a form tag with the start_form_tag helper. I''ve tried playing around with ", id=>"marginForm" " and also inclosing both the action variable and id variable in curley brackets. The Rails API doesn''t off much help for a n00b like me. It''s probably really easy but any help you guys

Kickstart and volume group with a dash in the name
Hi, I'm trying to setup the provisioning of new OpenStack hypervisors with cinder volumes on them. The problem is that kickstart doesn't allow dashed in volume group names? I tried this: volgroup cinder-volumes --pesize=4096 pv.02 and this: volgroup cinder--volumes --pesize=4096 pv.02 but in both cases I end up with a volume group named "cindervolumes" on the system. Imputing data
So I have a very big matrix of about 900 by 400 and there are a couple of NA in the list. I have used the following functions to impute the missing data data(pc) pc.na<-pc pc.roughfix <- na.roughfix(pc.na) pc.narf <- randomForest(pc.na, na.action=na.roughfix) yet it does not replace the NA in the list. Presently I want to replace the NA with maybe the mean of the rows or columns or

Memory problem on a linux cluster using a large data set
Hello, I have a large data set 320.000 rows and 1000 columns. All the data has the values 0,1,2. I wrote a script to remove all the rows with more than 46 missing values. This works perfect on a smaller dataset. But the problem arises when I try to run it on the larger data set I get an error “cannot allocate vector size 1240 kb”. I’ve searched through previous posts and found out that it might

Strikethroughs and dashes
Who really uses strikethroughs?? This is one of the most common tripwires in RedCloth. You are the friend--the only friend--who has offered to help. Obviously em dashes. I died in -2006- wait, no, two-thousand-FIVE! Obviously strikethrough. I''m going on a trip - a long one - to the Virgin Islands. That''s got to be en dashes. Such a cheap, no-hassle, no-worry

textilize with --- (3 dashes) removes text
Hi, using --- (3 dashes) at the end of a string that is textilized, results in a single hr tag without any text. This seems weird to me. Am I overlooking something? >> av = ActionView::Base.new >> av.textilize("sometext ---") => "<hr />" Cheers, Jan --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are

Bug in RScript.exe for 3.5.0
Hi R Developers, I have found what I think is a bug in the RScript.exe in version 3.5.0 of R for Windows. When I call Rscript.exe for Version 3.5 of R, it is unable to open the file if the file name or path has a space in it. As an example of what happens, I saved 2 files with the code: cat("What do you get when you multiply 6 * 9?") as C:\foo bar.R and as C:\foo_bar.R When I in a DOS

:: and ::: as .Primitives?
Hi all, When S4 methods are defined on base function (say, "match"), the function becomes a method with the body "base::match(x,y)". A call to such a function often spends more time doing "::" than in the function itself. I always assumed that "::" was a very low-level thing, but it turns out to be a plain old function defined in base/R/namespace.R. What
