Hello,
I''m trying to implement a checkbox option function, but I''m having a
problem in visualizing how it needs to be implemented.
Let me explain. I have a model (User) and another model (Category). I
want the user to be able to select multiple categories in the form of
checkboxes and have this information stored in the db.
User habtm Category
and
Category habtm User

rails habtm checkboxes with jquerymobile
Hi guys, I have a habtm association working properly. My application
consists of both a desktop and a mobile version.
My mobile version is made with jquerymobile and I would like my checkboxes
in the edit form to look like the checkboxes shown in

My desktop code is the following:

checkboxes with a has_many :through relation
All,
I''m populating a view with checkboxes in a list. I want to be able to
assign to my has_many relationship using the post values of these
checkboxes. Essentially, I want to populate the relationship table
which will create the correct join values in my model.
Here is my check_box_tag code:
<%= check_box_tag("@current_job[target_list_ids][]",

checkboxes for filtered search
I have a page that renders a series of about 20 checkboxes on the
left hand side with content on the right. These checkboxes are
created from a DB and that part is all working well.
What I want to do is have a user click on a checkbox [genres] and
have the content on the right be filtered based on the checkbox
ticked. If a user clicks on more than one checkbox than only those

HABTM checkboxes insert but don't delete
I have a problem related with the HABTM relationships with checkboxes.
I''ve got a profile and a service model, both related with
has_and_belongs_to_many.
The problem is that i can insert new data in the profiles_services
table, however, i cant delete already existing data.
What could be the problem?

Missing scaffold features
Hello everyone,
First off, I''m trying to generate a discussion here, not provoke an
argument or get people upset. Please bear this in mind if/as you read
on...
To my mind, there''s 3 missing features from scaffolds that would make
them a whole lot more useful. These are:
- auto-generation of a drop-down list for inputting/updating
has_many/belongs_to relationships between

Checkboxes expand to show new options when checked?
I''m writing a simple CMS where every item ("listing") HABTM categories
and subcategories (which themselves belong_to a category). What I''m
trying to do now is create a UI effect for listing creation: when you go
to create a listing, only the possible categories will be shown, but
when you select a category a set of new categories will be displayed
like so:

Rails 4 and HABTM Checkboxes: Unpermitted parameters error
I have a simple Rails 4 project with two scaffolded models: Practice and Practitioner. I have set these both as habtm and am in the process of adding checkboxes to the Practitioner form so that I can check off the practices that this practitioner belongs to. In the practitioners_controller, I added practice_ids to the practitioner_params permit list, but I am still getting the error:

Check/uncheck all checkboxes
Hello!
I have this page where I list all users in a table. There is checkbox in
every row. My User-model has a "checked"-attribute.
I have implemented the checkboxes like this:
<%= check_box("user[]", "checked") %>
Which outputs this:
<input id="user_12_checked" name="user[12][checked]" type="checkbox"
value="1"

Re: Problem with find condition and habtm relationship.
OK. This may help, but it will also make your head hurt. The basic
problem that you''re running into is that you want a "for all"
operator and sql doesn''t have one. Instead, you have to think of the
query in terms of the logically equivalent "not exists not".
Effectively, a proposition is true for all x if you can''t find a

Form.Element.getValue for checkboxes and radios?
I notice that Form.Element.getValue() takes a single element or id and
returns the element name and value. How does one handle getting the
values of checkboxes and/or radios which share the same control name,
save getting them one at a time?

ActiveRecord not getting true value from checkbox
I have a checkbox tag as follows:
<%= f.check_box :receive_offers %>
When I view source in the html, I see the value of the checkbox is "1",
with the normal hidden field value of "0". However, after posting the
form and saving to the database, the Mysql column, which is a TinyInt,
is ALWAYS 0.
I''ve tried it with true/false values instead, and no luck.
