Setting Product Env
When I am using my rails models in my worker class, it appears the background worker class is always using development no matter what I do. I set background.yml to production. I even have ENV[''RAILS_ENV''] ||= ''production uncommented in environment.rb. I don''t have the development db even created on my production box, so not sure where it is getting development

page.replace_html "#{var_containing_id_name}", :partial => ''edit''
The subject line says it all. -- Is there a way to do something like: page.replace_html "#{var_containing_id_name}", :partial => ''edit'' That line of code does not work, but I would like to pass the name of a variable to page.replace_html. This variable would contain the id of the div I want to update. Anyone know if/how I could do that? Thanks! : ) Jason

Should controllers be "smart"?
I''m working on a small project with a friend, and one of the things we needed to do was send off an email whenever someone signs up an account. His implementation was pretty simple - throw a deliver_welcome call inside the controller after the signup. I''m sure that this is a pretty common thing to do. The problem, in my mind, was that the app now became tied to two places -

MVC and Pagination
Just wondering how to best integrate with pagination and still stick to MVC... Say I have a Post model that has a published attribute. I want to show all the recent published posts on a page. My first instinct is to create a method in the Post model called recent that does the find with proper conditions and order, but the problem I have is how do I use that with pagination (which definitely

RJS Failing
This code was working before I created the update_link_list method in the helper below (everything was in the controller). I can successfully create a new link but I get a TypeError when I leave all form fields blank -- I expect to see validation error messages. --- #link_controller.rb: def create link = Link.new(params[:link]) saved = link.save num_links = Link.find(:all).size

Credit Card Processing / Merchant Account
Hi All, Has anyone implemented a credit card processing / merchant account system using Rails? I know that there is a ''payment'' gem that is supposed to integrate with the Authorize.net gateway, but I''m wondering if that is the best (and only) solution out there. Are there any other recommended solutions from Rails programmers out there? Thanks in advance for the

How to access element attributes using RJS?
For example, in the following block: page.select(''.foo'').each do |element| ... end How would I access, just for example, the id attribute of each element in the collection? I''ve randomly tried element.id and element.attributes[''id''], but neither of those has worked. I''ve also been unsuccessful in finding any documentation on this, but it

rendering images dynamically
Hi, I have a rails application where I respond to a request by fetching image urls from various web api calls and need to display them as they come available. I am able to display all the images once I get them all, but that causes an unacceptable delay for my user. One approach I am trying is, from my controller, set an @image variable, and then pass in a block to the model that retrieves the

RJS Templates
I have a page that when a form gets submitted, I use page.insert_html to stick a div in another div. The problem is, when I want to refernce it later on, the IDs are not unique. So to get around this, I concatenated the id of the item to the end of the div name. Which is fine. I did the same in the RJS template as well, but it''s not finding that div. I tried it with string
