Two problems with DomU reboot (cmdline, duplicate domains)
Hi, just upgraded my testsystem to 3.0.4 (using the provided source rpm, xen-3.0.4.1-1.src.rpm, rebuilt it to run on non-PXE but no changes besides that, and it doesn''t look like the 3.0.4-testing HG has major differences so far?) and I have two problems with rebooting domains (xm reboot, or reboot from inside the domain). 1) the kernel-commandline keeps growing. On the first boot

XEN 3.1: critical bug: vif init failure after creating 15-17 VMs (XENBUS: Timeout connecting to device: device/vif)
We have found a critical problem with the XEN 3.1 release (for those who are running 15-20 VMs on a single server). We are using the official XEN 3.1 release on a rackable server (Dual-Core AMD Opteron, 8GB RAM). The problem we are seeing is that intermittently vifs fail to work properly in VMs after we create around 15-17 VMs on our server (all running at the same time, created one by

iowait / Perfomance problems with xen on drbd (centos 5.2)
Hi, we have 2 servers on centos5.2 in a cluster with the redhat cman in the configuration SERVER1 > LVM \ CMAN DRBD > XEN SERVER2 > LVM / For each xen we create a new local LVM on each node, put them in a drbd and install an os (debian 4 or ubuntu 8). The xens are running as pvm. Everything works fine since over 4 months now. But we have some performance-Problems: Writing

"xm list" causing "OverflowError: int exceeds XML-RPC limits"
I am getting the following error with "xm list" on a x86_64 SLES10 Beta system running changeset 9435:11fee62328cc. I am able to bring up DomUs and I am able to do "xm info" without issues. But I am seeing similar "OverflowError: int exceeds XML-RPC limits" with "xm shutdown" and "xm destroy". My python version is 2.4.2. Any way I can get around

Dom0 <> DomU clock sync
Hello ! Just a quick question about time synchronization between xen dom0 and domUs... We''re running Xen 3.1 64-bit, with 32 and 64 bits linux guests. It''s up since 89 days and the domU''s time is around 5 minutes behind the dom0, which is updated via ntpdate... Any idea why it doesn''t sync the guests even that /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock is 0 ?

alloc_heap_pages is low efficient with more CPUs
I am confused with a problem: I have a blade with 64 physical CPUs and 64G physical RAM, and defined only one VM with 1 CPU and 40G RAM. For the first time I started the VM, it just took 3s, But for the second starting it took 30s. After studied it by printing log, I have located a place in the hypervisor where cost too much time, occupied 98% of the whole starting time. xen/common/page_alloc.c

FW: [patch 0/4]Enable CMCI (Corrected Machine Check Error Interrupt) for Intel CPUs
Hi, All Following 4 patches are for enabling CMCI of Intel CPUs in XEN. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patch 1: remove_intel_mce_old.patch is to remove old p4/p6 files. The reason is that machine check architecture for Intel families including p4/p6/latest are similar. We need not keep duplicated codes. Patch 2: change_stop_machine_run.patch changes

Xen patchbot -unstable <patchbot-unstable@lists.xensource.com> writes: > Fix NX/XD enable on secondary CPUs. > Signed-off-by: Keir Fraser <keir@xensource.com> I think I have this problem with PAE as well. Machine is SMP (hyperthreaded). PAE dom0 boots fine on CPU #0. PAE domU is bound to CPU #1 by default and boots to the login prompt as well, but only with NX disabled (and

kernel oops/IRQ exception when networking between many domUs
Hi, I try to build experimental networks with Xen and stumbled over the same problem that has been described quite well by Mark Doll in his posting "xen_net: Failed to connect all virtual interfaces: err=-100" here: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-04/msg00447.html As it was still present in 2.0.6, I tried 3.0-devel and found NR_PIRQS and NR_DYNIRQS had been

Problem with reboot of domU''s
I have been playing with Xen 3.0.1 for some days now, using debian sarge for dom0 and domU''s, and it works like a charm. But, I have a problem with rebooting domU''s. Here is the output from /var/log/xend.log [2006-03-30 13:44:58 xend.XendDomainInfo] INFO (XendDomainInfo:823) Domain has shutdown: name=vmintraweb1 id=5 reason=reboot . PCI Passthrough using GART on AMD CPUs?
Hey everyone, I realize that people asking about PCI passthrough has been thoroughly beaten to death many a time, however I couldn''t find the answer to these questions anywhere (and I''d really like to know :P) so please just bare with me. I know the GART built into AMD chipsets can act as a "mini IOMMU" and do DMA translation but not protection/isolation. However,

dom0 memory limits greater than 2Gb?
The main Xen mailing list ("xen-users") generally advises users to limit the memory on dom0 to 2Gb or less. Apparently the general version of Xen has troubles with this. What''s the corresponding advice for the Xen in OpenSolaris, Nevada b87 in particular? I''ve got an X4600 with 32Gb of physical memory on it. I was originally planning to have dom0 be the general-

The problem is that for some reason, carrying outany CPU/Disk intensive task on the Dom0 seems to be affecting the DomUs adversly. For ex.i noticed that my Domus become extremly

xen kernel smp; but only one cpu
Hi Booting my Xen Dom0 on Debian Etch (Kernel is the prebuild one from bits.xensource.com), I found that only one cpu core (of two: dual core) is recognized by the (dom0-)Kernel. Googling this issue, I found on xen-devel-list that xen kernel is named smp but isn''t really doing so. Is there any (prebuild) kernel that I can use for smp? Thanks Gregor Reich

[PATCH][RESEND][Builder] Check if v_end wraps around to 0
This patch adds a check to see if v_end in setup_guest() wraps around to 0 and lets the builder exit gracefully when it does.
