Problems with Package Installation.
I am having difficulty installing packages. For example, here I have tried to
install "gplots" but to no avail. I have tried multiple mirrors and
different packages (errbar) but after installation I seem to be unable to
access any of the commands or help pages. I am a little concerned about the
'lib' missing message but this has been present for previous successful

sourcecode for the balloonplot function from the gplots package
Hi,
I want to take a look at the sourcecode for balloonplot. I would appreciate it if I could get help on overcoming the following problem :
> methods(balloonplot)
[1] balloonplot.default* balloonplot.table* ?
? ?Non-visible functions are asterisked
> balloonplot.default
Error: object 'balloonplot.default' not found

How do I access the non-visible functions?

wapply from gplots -- How do I get a local estimate of variance?
Dear list,
I am trying to plot the local variance in a moving window on a
dataset. The function that I am trying to use for this is wapply from
gtools.
However, from the lattice panel function code:
<snip>
cat(x)
cat(y)
wapply(x,y,method="range",width=1/10,fun=sd,na.rm=TRUE) -> outvar
</snip>
I get:
<snip>
109 109 109 109 109 109 116 116 116 116 119 119 123

Help with ooplot(gplots) and error bars
Dear All
I am trying to graph a proportion and CI95% by a factor with ooplot (any
other better solution ?)
It works well until I try to add the confidence interval.
this is the error message and and a description of the data:

parameter couldn't be set in high-level plot() function
Dear R users,
I am using function bandplot from the gplots package.
To my understanding (viewing the source of bandplot) it calls
function plot (add = FALSE) with the same parameters (except for a few
removed).
I would like to give extra parameters 'xlab' and 'ylab' to function
bandplot, but, as can be seen below, that raises warnings (and the
labels do not show up at the end).

help with a special variant of balloonplot
Hi,
I am interested in implementing a special variant of
balloonplot. Let me
explain with an example dataset from the reference manual :
library(gplots)
data(Titanic)
dframe<-as.data.frame(Titanic)
survived<-dframe[dframe$Survived=="Yes",]
attach(survived)
balloonplot(x=Class,y=list(Age,Sex),z=Freq,sort=TRUE,show.zeros=TRUE,cum.margins=FALSE,

xlab, ylab in balloonplot(tab)?
I'm not understanding something.
I'm trying to add xlab & ylab to a balloon plot of a table object. From docs
I thought following should work:
require(gplots)
# From balloonplot example:
# Create an example using table
xnames <- sample( letters[1:3], 50, replace=2)
ynames <- sample( 1:5, 50, replace=2)
tab <- table(xnames, ynames)
balloonplot(tab)

heatmap.2 problem
Dear List,
I'm trying to generate a simple heatmap that has each row and column
separated by a black line. However, for some reason this only happens
for the first and last color. The middle color in my colorpanel()
command has an addition horizontal and vertical line that I would like
to get rid off. Any suggestions?

extract element, row, etc from general array structure
This one has me a bit stumped, and I know there may well be a really
simple way of doing it in R. Sorry for the long-winded explanation.
Short version:
given an array of arbitrary number of dimensions D, how can we
retrieve the Nth element of dimension D without knowing in
advance what D will be? For example, given that array
A has dimensions c(3,4,5), and N=2, can we write a function

Adding a legend to R graph device with several plots (no to individual plots!)
Dear Users, I already posted this question: it either went unnoticed,
or it is to basic (if this is so, please sent me a hint).
I would like to know if there is a way to add a common
legend to an arrangement of plots. In the example below, I get four
plots in my device. each one has a density for 1995 and one for 2006.
I have found that using legend or smartlegend I can add a legend to
each plot,

RE: Text Rotation (was: Take care with codes()!)
I've just uploaded gregmisc_0.8.2.tar.gz to CRAN. It should show up in the
package repository in a day or two.
This version of the gregmisc package provides an enhanced 'balloonplot'
function with 'rowsrt', 'colsrt' arguments to control rotation of the
labels, and 'rowmar', 'colmar' to control the amount of space reserved for
the labels.

textplot() in gplots causes problems (0x9)
Hello,
I am using textplot function in gplots package to put some model
output inside a PDF file, but it does not seem to work properly with
PDF.
I am doing follwing:
pdf(file="C:/...", paper="a4", width=8, height=12)
.model <- lm(.model.formula, data=database)
textplot(capture.output(summary(.model)), valign="top", halign="left")
I am getting these
