UserEngine and hiding controllers
I''m using LoginEngine + UserEngine for web application.
1. I have some controllers under and admin subdirectory
(Admin::PostController etc). The auto-fill permission in UserEngine
does not work correctly with those controllers.
Right at the moment this is not a problem, since I kind like having the
Admin section separated and available only for god users. However, I

RJS to find an element
I''m trying to implement a remove from cart method based on the
examples in the second edition Agile book. I have everything working
except for the RJS that removes items from the cart. Ideally what
I''d like to do is highlight an element that I am deleting only if
there is more than one of that particular item in the cart. If the
item deleted is the only of

WYSIWYG IDE, etc...
I''m new to Ruby, so don''t be too hard on me.
Is there a great visual editor for Ruby?
Also can Ruby on Rails (RoR) work with any other databases other than
the ones listed in the documentation, I need to connect to SQLBase?
Can Ruby be used to create standalone Applications (like Java)?
If yes, does it create native looking apps?
Can it be use in Client-Side and/or Server

Learn Ruby before Learning Ruby on Rails ?
hello Friends,
I am a newbie to "Ruby or Ruby on Rails". A J2EE application architect
at my day job. A fairly experienced PHP web-developer as well. After
reading into the many articles on Ruby/ROR, have to admit looks pretty
good so far. Really serious about getting into this and possibly
developing some good Web 2.0 applications.
Just wondering the best way to learn Ruby on

IDE recommendations?
I was wondering if there are any IDEs out there that has autocomplete
features for win32.
It would be perfect if it could do something akin to what DHH is doing
on the screencast hosted on the rails website.

Hiding and unhiding actions.
I''m using the UserEngine, so I have a UserController that responds to
/user/action.
I subclassed it with an Admin::UserEngine. I''d like to have some
actions available in the subclass and *not* in the superclass.
If all the code was mine this would not be a problem, of course. However
, I''d like not to change their code.
I had a look at hide_action, but there

Check if a saved user''s name is admin
Hi all,
I have a question about this method in my User model:
# Returns true for the (saved) user called "admin"
def is_the_administrator
true if save and name == "admin"
end
The method returns true if the user''s name is admin. However, I only want to
return true if the state of the object is "saved", so I call the save method
first.

reference classes: question on inheritance
Dear list,
I have a reference class which should act as a "generic" superclass for
other classes. I've read the respective section at ?setRefClass and put the
name of the superclass to the 'contains' argument of an example subclass
(see class defs below). Classnames are set in a way that shouldn't result in
collation issues (virtual def sourced before superclass def

Prototype "classes" and inheritance
JavaScript doesn''t (yet) have a notion of classes. Prototype.js just
adds a suitable convention for implementing them. It provides a way to
create a new class by extending a base class using Object.extend, but
it doesn''t handle method inheritance. There are ways of doing
implementing this through traversing the chain of prototypes, but I''m
not sure they are

S4: inheritance of validity methods?
Dear Developers,
In current implementation of validity method, objects are first coerced to
superclass (slots are striped). Thus, it is not possible to write validity
method which would perform some checks on children slots.
Say, I want to check if number of slots in a class is equal to "n":
setClass("A", representation(a="numeric", n="integer"),

S4 Inheritance of environments
I looked through the documentation and the mailing lists and could not
find an answer to this. My apologies if it has already been answered.
If it has, a pointer to the relevant discussion would be greatly
appreciated.
Creating S4 classes containing environments exhibits unexpected
behavior/features.? These have a different in two ways:
1) slotName for the data: ".xData" instead of

Ruby, Rails & Inheritance
Hi!
I am looking for a solution for the following problem:
Some of my models share some attributes and also was in need for some
extra features, so I created a class "RecordWithFeatures":

class RecordWithFeatures < ActiveRecord::Base
# @Override
def self.descends_from_active_record?

Edge rails, single table inheritance and keeping multiple classes in a single file
So is the official stance as per edge rails that multiple class
definitions must go into separate files? I was trying to use STI with
acts_as_attachment, to have all my attachment classes go into a single
file, for example:
attachment.rb
class Attachment < ActiveRecord::Base
end
class UserPicture < Attachment
belongs_to :user, :foreign_key => ''owner_id''

Some extensions to class inheritance and method selection
Changes were committed today to the r-devel version of R to make S4 and
S3 classes (and abnormal object types such as "environment") work
together more consistently.
Basically, S4 classes can now contain any S3 class or object type, and
should now inherit S3 methods for these. Also, the main practical
problem with defining S3 methods for other S4 classes (namely, that S4

SIP->h323 problem DTMF
I've configured Asterisk 0.7.2 to work together with Cisco ATA186 (SIP,G.711. RFC2833) and OpenPhone (H.323, G.711).
But there is an issue while calling from ATA186 to OpenPhone via Astrisk - when I press any key on analogue phone connected to ATA, Asterisk shows following message:
-- Executing Dial("SIP/519-3781", "OH323/62.213.36.100|20|Tt") in new stack
