Well i want to make a photography community site on the lines of www.gfxartist.com , www.terminus1525.ca, www.phirebrush.com Where the community votes for every subbmission from a artist and can comment (like a forum).. Now gfxartist has used probably SMARTY,php, and their own CMS. terminus used Drupal,Gallery 2.Some one tells me that this combo is heavy on resources and slows down sites.

Content Management System
I am looking for a good CMS based on Rails that has at least these attributes: 1. Ease of use ( as it will be used by people who are not html literate) 2. Very easy/flexible to change layout. So far I have looked at http://rcms.oopen.de/Home/ (have not installed it yet) http://adminpages.flowdev.de http://demo.radiantcms.org/admin/pages http://www.eribium.org/eribium/ MuraveyWeb does not seem

Typo3 5.0 Framework
Hi guys, for about one and half a year I am involved in RoR Development. I like the framework very much! But more and more I have my doubts, that this framework will succeed, I think Ruby on Rails succeed only, if some powers from community will be concentrated on a target-oriented development of the Framework. Since the approach of a pragmatic way of programming isn''t new anymore, more

Help about CMS - newbie in RoR
Hi team, I''m a very newbie RoR user from Spain and I''m developing a blog''s CMS. Why RoR?, coz I think it''s an amazing framework with many posibilities, portable and really powerful, with a young and optimist community, and taking my project I''ve prefered his structure in front of LAMP. Another thing is that I''ve liked to surprise my masters

Page hit counter?
Hello all, Yet another "don''t reinvent the wheel" n00b question: Is there an ''official'' page hit counter plugin/code snippet/whatever? I would need something like this: - It is possibility to set a constant timespan (say 5 hours). - On every page hit, save away @request.remote_ip and Time.new - The counter gets incremented only if the same IP was here

A challenge from a CMS implementer
Hey guys RoR evangelists keep telling us that they have the #1 framework for developing webapps. OK, but show us something that works and is useful to many people out there. I could be wrong, but it doesn''t seem as if there is anything that qualifies, as yet? So I''ve got a little challenge for you: come up with a decent plugin WYSIWYG visual editor for CMS. There are several

Open Source Content Management System - Joomla
There was some discussion in the past about which one is the best Content Management System that can be used in conjunction with Asterisk. Mambo was supposed to be the best out there under GPL. The guys who developed Mambo have a new product now - Joomla. I am using this and it appears to be better than Mambo in many respects. Read the gist about Joomla below. ------------- If you've read

new to rails... suitable for what I wanna do?
Hi, I have created and now maintain the website ratsdeville.com (http:// ratsdeville.com/index_e.html for english) for my brother. He creates more and more content for it each week and I''m seriously feeling the pain now archiving everything manually and making sure that links works once items are archived (which I lost control of). Like you can see, it is basically a news site about art

Seymore - Content Management On Rails
I have just open sourced my Content Management System called Seymore. Rather than having a separate administration section for managing content, content management functions are available throughout the site so users are able to contextually and comfortably manage the content. I am looking for any and all feedback. Please, either checkout the latest source from subversion, grab version 0.1 from

I want to blog!
This isn''t Rails or Ruby related, but I just need some advice and thought I''d ask the bright individuals here. I want to start my own blog but I''m not sure where to begin. I don''t want to get a blogger account because I want to have my own domain. Blogger also doesn''t have many features. My hosting service is 1AND1 so it supports php, cgi and mysql.

Apache Redirects...
I'm trying to require SSL for drupal login and admin pages and it seems that this should work but it doesn't redirect if added to httpd.conf or to .htaccess (I've tried both) RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(user|admin) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [L,R] Shouldn't this be enough so that the URL...(googling suggests that it is) http://cms.tobyhouse.com/user/login

Drupal installation
Does anyone have experience of drupal installation under CentoOS-5.3 with MySQL database preferably accessed through phpMyAdmin. I want to install drupal more or less as an experiment, and I'm looking for a 1- or 2-page document that just lists precisely what steps to take. I've had a quick look at the official installation instructions, and I found them confusing and contradictory. --

validate_presence_of not working for me
Hi all, I just begun with RoR and going through the Agile development w Rails depot example ATM. I did everything according to the book (i believe), and after 3 hours of googling, reading docs, making sure i did everything correctly i can not make the validate_presence_of() to work - at least not as it looks in the book. My Product model looks like: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base

CentOS, PHP & OwnCloud/Nextcloud: the version dilemma
