Downloading Files
I''m building a rails app that will create .xml documents for the users of a particular intranet. My question is two fold 1. The files are in /public/files/something.xml, etc... How can I create a link_to in rails to access these files? 2. How I can I force the file to be downloaded (bring up a save dialog) as opposed to displaying in the browser? Thanks for hte help. -- Posted

Problem with "can''t dump anonymous class Class"
I submitted this earlier, but the web forums went down and I''ve screwed up the thread, so I''m starting over. I''m trying to built a document upload system. The system has a main Document model with different subclasses for different types of documents. With the code below, if I attempt to create a Document, it works fine, but if I attempt to use one of the subclasses, I

Upload Progress Bar Problems
I''m writing an application where the user will be uploading many images and user feedback is essential. I''ve been trying to get the upload progress bar plug-in to work, but thus far have not had any success. Uploading files and writing them to server?
Where should I look for information on how to use Rails and Ruby to accept the upload of a file and then to save that file to the file system of my server? I''m reading the "Uploading a file" section of Agile Web Dev with Rails, but it''s geared toward saving the file in the database. Any advice? Thanks, Jeff -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

model helper location
Hi, I''m looking at the rails cookbook for uploading files[1]. At the bottom of the page it says that the sanitize_filename functioin would probably go in a helper or a library. I wonder where these files would be or what they would be called. Pehaps there are some conventions I need to know about? Thanks, Peter [1] http://manuals.rubyonrails.com/read/chapter/78

Internet Explorer - Sanitize Uploaded Filenames
Hi all, Somewhat of a noob here. I have a table that has 5 file fields, and they are named file, file2, file3, file4, file 5. All of them will be .doc files. In firefox, I can upload these files just fine, and they will show up as Document.doc. In IE, it prepends the entire path. C:\My Documents\User\Desktop\Document.doc Which makes the file unreadable, and un-downloadable. I know that the

R not responding (must force quit) when saving graphic to PDF (bug?)
Dear Wolfgang, Thanks for your response. No, I haven't tried doing the complete reinstallation as you suggest. If I recall correctly, this has happened on previous occasions but like I said in my email it's not all that disruptive to my workflow. It's more like a 'first world problem'. I was encouraged to submit the query because I had correspondence with someone involved
