Time jumped forwards
Running Dovecot 2.0.8 on 32bit Centos5.5. The machine is a VMWare ESX VM. I'm seeing a lot of warning messages in syslog as follows: 2011-01-14T11:45:37.315917+08:00 imap4 dovecot: imap: Warning: Time jumped forwards 105 seconds 2011-01-14T11:46:00.598006+08:00 imap4 dovecot: imap: Warning: Time jumped forwards 106 seconds 2011-01-14T11:46:25.364405+08:00 imap4 dovecot: imap: Warning: Time

tick divider bugs
Hi all, If you are using the kernel divider= option in your vmware quest, you are probably aware of the bugs reported at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=315471 Someone @redhat "confirmed" the fix is in the test kernel -92. I tried it but it seems to have the same problem as before - when used with clocksource=pit, it hangs on bootup. Wonder if some of you can test this

High CPU usage when running a CentOS guest in VirtualBox
Hi, I am running CentOS 5.3 32bit as a VirtualBox 3.0.0 guest running on Windows XP. The Windows host CPU usage is constantly at 50% although the CentOS guest is completely idle (i.e. 0.00 load average). I know this is a common problem related to the 1000Hz frequency that the CentOS kernel runs at. With previous versions of CentOS, I used the kernel-vm package [1] and it solved my problem.

Java Bindings against RHEL5.5 KVM
Hi all, I'm doing some dev work against the native RHEL/centos 5.5 KVM installation for maintenance, creation and deletion of virtual guests using the libvirt API vai the java bindings from a java based web app. Things in general seem to be working - I can connect to and query the kvm instance using the libvirt interface and get a list of guests, pull information about them and

I used kickstart for creating this VM and I am listing important steps in ref to timekeeping issue. Any comments or suggestion would be appreciated. - CS. ------------------- # For EL5 virtual machines, Append the

Fast clock under VMWare
Hi everyone, I have been struggling with having the clock of Linux VM's (including CentOS 4.6 and 5.1) running very fast under VMWare, no matter what I have tried. My platform: - AMD Turion X2 TL-60 - AMD 690 chipset with integrated Radeon x1250 (probably doesn't concern in this case) - Windows Vista Ultimate x64, all Windows Update patches loaded (no SP1 yet) - 4GB RAM - VMWare

ntp on kvm
We've noticed our fully-virtualized KVM guests' time keeps getting faster, despite running ntpd. A quick google reveals this to be a known problem with virtual guests. It seems there are a variety of solutions, some apparently vendor-specific. What is the best practice as of now for KVM guests? * Setting independent_wallclock=1 (or is that a xen-only thing)? * Passing kernel

Does not auto boot after time out
I am having difficulty trying to figure out how to get a computer to boot from it's local disk automatically after the pxe menu times out. I installed syslinux-3.11-4 with yum onto CentOS 5.5 It boots to the local disk if I select Local from the menu and press enter but it never times out and boots localy. The AUTOBOOT message doesn't appear either. Which instructions in the PXELINUX

How do I put ldpaths in a specific place?
Hi Everybody, I made R (v. 2.11.1) from source with the following config option: ./configure --prefix=/mnt/ami-centos5.5-64bit-base \ --exec-prefix=/mnt/ami-centos5.5-64bit-base \ --with-tcltk All seemed to go well, but when I tested it with: /usr/sbin/chroot /mnt/ami-centos5.5-64bit-base R It told me: /bin/R: line 217:

Common content for 'Release Notes'
Hi Since some time ago, I have been contributing as Spanish translator of "Release notes" (and some other wiki content). The "Release notes" has some parts which are common for all translated versions, by sample: 'sha1sum' , 'translations' I sugest start to using the macro 'Include' for the next releases. I'm not an MoinMoin expert but AFAIKU this

Solaris 10 (9/10) on Xen 3.4
Hi, I am trying to run solaris 10 (9/10) on Xen 3.4 (centos5.5 as dom0) in HVM mode. I can see the realtek 8139 network adapters when I do pciscan but ''ifconfig -a'' just lists loopback device. I can load rtls drivers but still these realtek interfaces are not available. I found a link which does say The rtls driver from Realtek still uses version 0 interfaces that are now

Building an install disk on a USB key manually or using unetbootin
Has anyone successfully built a USB key for installing centos5.5 either manually or using a tool like unetbootin? I am trying to create one using the 64bit install DVD iso and so far the USB either won't boot (unetbootin) or the installation aborts after I select the iso location on the USB key (manual). Thanks, David
