Samba & Tivoli Storage Mgr (TSM) Integration Query ???
All, Can anyone confirm that Samba/Solaris will integrate with TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) when deployed into a Wintel client environment. ie. Solaris/Samba as a TSM client - we need to be sure that the ACL's will be maintained correctly via a TSM backup/restore (full or partial) Or confirm this does not work, which is not what we want to hear - but the truth will suffice. Many thanks,

WINS capabilities
I have set up SAMBA on AIX 4.2 and can attach to NT shares and vice versa. I acquired and configured SAMBA for basically one reason, that being to gain WINS client capabilities for AIX. Right now it's not working as expected, though. I am implementing Tivoli, and Tivoli requires a bidirectional name to address resolution in order to register the managed node agent with the Framework. I

Problems running apps from Samba 2.0.0 share on NT 4.0
Ever since I upgraded from Samba 1.9.18 to 2.0.0, I've been having problems with applications started from a Samba share dying silently, or with an Illegal Instruction message, on NT 4.0 Workstation. Since the only configuration change has been the Samba upgrade, that would seem to be the orgin of the problem. Below is my smb.conf file, in case I have something configured (or not configured)

[LLVMdev] Next Cambridge LLVM Social
Hi all, A bit ahead of schedule, I want to announce the next LLVM social on the 21st October (Wed), because it'll be on a different place: The Tivoli, Chesterton Road http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-tivoli It's not as close to the train station as The Cambridge Blue, but it's not too far either. David Chisnall tells me it's a much nicer pub, and much cheaper than

[LLVMdev] Cambridge LLVM Social (new place!)
Just a reminder, the Cambridge LLVM Social is this Wednesday, 7:30pm at the The Tivoli, Chesterton Road: http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-tivoli This pub is a bit further away from the train station, but has been highly praised by David, so if you don't like it, blame him. If people are interested in coming pre-Christmas, we can try a fancier pub in December (but that might

Getting a make error when compiling
I would post this on the list but we are unable to get to the listservs from our site. The problem is I am trying to compile OpenSSH 2.5.2p2 on Solaris 8 and having problems. OpenSSL is installed and Zlib is installed. The error I am getting is: (cd openbsd-compat; make) make: Fatal error: No arguments to build Current working directory /opt/othersoftware/openssh-2.5.2p2/openbsd-compat ***

[LLVMdev] XMas Cambridge LLVM Social
Hi guys, We're doing a special XMas social next week (12th Dec), same time, same pub (Tivoli) and same time. Why special? No idea, just because it's December. Anyway, not many people will come, we know, but we're going to go anyway, since the beer is cheap and we have nothing better to do on a Wednesday evening. Oh, and folks have discounts on beer, to make them even cheaper.

Sync of samba passwords between two UNIX samba servers possible?
Hi everyone, I have set up two seperate AIX4.2.1 samba servers, and due to this, every time a user changes his Novell password, they (or more likely, I) have to change their passwords on both seperate samba servers (login is duplicating the novel/NT login password combination so that the filesystems are mapped automatically when they boot up). My question is :- Is it possible to synchronise two

Syslinux 6.03 released (Ady)
Ady, This sounds interesting. I know PXE and related DHCP options somewhat well. But I don't recognize this. Typically, you add PXE-related options to your DHCP server. Either your main DHCP server, or a proxy DHCP server you stand up. To a lesser extent, some smarter TFTP servers (like Tivoli or Rembo) can parse vendor-encapsulated options. They take different actions according to the

dmapi doesn't work on aix; possible fix included
I'm running samba 3.0.23c on aix 5.3 TL4. I'm using Tivoli HSM 5.3.4.0 on a JFS2 filesystem. Samba compiled fine, and I set "dmapi support = yes" in smb.conf, but samba wouldn't recognize offline files ("migrated files" in tsm terminology). After setting a higher log level I think I've tracked down the problem. The patch is at the bottom of this email.

TSM on ext3
Long back I found that TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager - a backup/archive program sometimes still called by its older name of ADSM) didn't handle ext3 filesystems very well, and provided a note with workround for Stephen's documentation. I've just pulled the TSM client version 5.1.0 and one of the announced features is ext3 (and jfs) support. So if you use TSM and upgrade, you can take

slow performance writing files via Samba 2.0/Beta 4
I can open and close files via Samba with no problems. But when I modify a file and tries to save it, performance is ten times slower. If I access the Samba server (Solaris 2.6) via telnet or ftp, performance was not a problem. I am using Windows95 to access these files. The smb.conf file is set to 'socket options = TCP_NODELAY'. Please help...??

CLI program trying to hide characters hangs
I'm running a version of WINE from the repository post 1.1 but before 1.2. The Windows program is IBM's Tivoli command line client program DSMC.EXE. It runs fine with NT 4.0 emulation under wine provided it does not try to hide your input from the console, which it does when prompting for a password. In that case wine and DSMC.EXE between them peg the CPU (roughly a 50/50 split re
