2.6.30.1 dom0 Xen patches
I''ve been trying for several days to get a xen dom0 booting as
described on Boris Derzhavets blog.
I have been able to boot Jeremy Fitzhardinge''s pv_ops kernel under
xen, but my X server wouldn''t start so I''ve been trying to get Andrew
Lyon''s rebased opensuse patches to work.
I have asked for help in the freenode ##xen channel but they

Opensolaris domU unable to get dhcp lease
I''m running a ubuntu 9.04 64 bit dom0 with kernel 2.6.29.6 and xen
3.4.0. My eth0 is bridged to br0 and to my guest VMs. The dom0 is
running a dhcp server on br0 which is able to provide leases to
physical machines on eth0, and also to a windows xp domU which is
bridged to br0. However my open solaris 2009.6 domU is unable to
obtain a dhcp lease.
On the opensolaris side I can see this:

Advice on PCIe graphics card for Xen+X86_64 for X
Hello,
I used a ScienticLinux 5.0 distro (mimics RedHat 5.0 but merged the
Server and Enterprise versions) in a x86_64 arch. I ran into a problem,
because while I can have X in the normal kernel, the Xen kernel, when I
boot in dom0 is in text mode and can''t load the Nvidia module. This is
because Nvidia does not support Xen. There seems to be some patches for
other distros (Suse,

Xorg crashes centos 5.1
From dmesg after the crash.
Xorg[12774] general protection rip:2b3daaff218b rsp:7fff01440950 error:0
Anyone experiencing X11 crashes?
I have an amd 6400+ centos 5.1 x86_64. This typically happens
when I VNC in from home into my machine at work.
My machine has nvidia card and I do run the binary drivers.
However, I switched out for a short time and ran the nv driver
and it happens there also.

current ISP to shrink download speed, either quit this job and switch

Solaris 10 HVM on Intel VT?
Can I run 8/07 fully virtualised on an Intel VT CPU (with a Linux Dom0)?
I gave up on 11/06 because of real mode problems. If not, does anyone
have an estimate of when this might be possible, if at all?
Thanks -

Fedora 11 DomU
When I try to virt-install a PV instance of F11, I''m getting an ''invalid
kernel'' message, as if it''s not a Xen kernel. I have tried both the
i386 and x86_64 versions.
Is there any weirdness with this distro that I''m not aware of?

FC11 and pv_ops kernel
Is there a version of the pv_ops kernel that will do HVM and work with
fc11? I have been failing miserably trying to get it to work. I have

Conditional dependency between packages
Hi,
I have already asked a similar question twice without response on the
r-help list https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2009-June/200300.html
but this list might be more appropriate. If there is a particular reason
for the lacking answers (unclear, missing information, the solution is
obvious to everyone except me, etc), I would like to know. The
description below is generalized, but I

import of Namespaces
Dear R devels,
let's say I have three packages "pkg1", "pkg2" and "pkg3" which all
contain new S4 classes and methods. Where "pkg3" depends on "pkg2" and
"pkg2" depends on "pkg1". Moreover, all three packages have namespaces.
1) I use ".onLoad <- function(lib, pkg) require(methods)". Do I also

Missing link(s) in documentation object
Hi,
I want to cross-reference from the documentation of pkg1 to pkg2, which
is imported in the NAMESPACE of pkg1, and under Depends in DESCRIPTION
of pkg1. According to "Writing R extensions", this can be done by:
\code{\link{foo}}
when foo is an aliased function in the documentation of pkg2. This works
as it should when I install the package, but when I run R CMD check
pgk1, I get

Fw: Re: What packages ubuntu-xen-server & ubuntu-xen-desktop are up to on intrepid
I have installed Ubuntu Intrepid Server on bare metal and successfully ran:-
# apt-get install ubuntu-xen-server.
It installed several packages on system . Now i can see files
/boot/xen-3.3.gz, /etc/init.d/xend, /etc/init.d/xendomains, but no
xenified kernel gets in. Attempt to use vmlinuz-2.6.27-7-server, obviously , fails with system panic.
I do remember recompiling procedure for Xen

How to link two R packages together
Hi,
I have built two R packages. One of them (PKG1) needs to use the functions
of the other package (PKG2).
So I need to link these two packages together, so that the functions of PKG2
can be available to PKG1. And when I load one package using
'library("PKG1")', PKG2 can be loaded at the same.
Any ideas welcome.

R CMD check dependency simplification
I am trying to re-organizing my Makefile for testing my R packages and I
am having trouble finding a structure I like. The problem seems to be
that "R CMD check", which does wonderful things, does not allow
dependency information to flow through very gracefully. That is, since
everything is copied into the pkg.Rcheck directory, it is difficult to
make any changes to source files without
