multiple nics in a xenU
Hi xen users,
I''d like xen0 to be the controller and xenU(1) to be a firewall/router
with 4 subnets (WAN, LAN, DMZ, TEAM) each with 1 of 4 physical nics
attached to it.
Using FC4 with xen-3.0.0-7 with linux kernel 2.6.12.6, default make
world configurations, box is athlon cpu, 512M, 4 nics. On boot all nics
are recognized, lspci shows them to be present.
In xenU there are four ifcfg

ethtool and mii-tool don''t work under xen
Tested on identical hardware (Dell SC1425) with a non-xen kernel, it
wroks fine. However under Xen, this is what happens:
xen1 ~ # ethtool eth0
Settings for eth0:
No data available
xen1 ~ # mii-tool eth0
SIOCGMIIPHY on ''eth0'' failed: Operation not supported
Any ideas?
Thanks,

xenconsole: How to get out?
Hi,
XEN has a console that works in text mode ("xm console", e.g. via SSH). However
with a German keyboard I''m having trouble to get out of the console again. Usually
I login to Dom0 from another terminal, and then kill the xenconsole process.
However I''d wish there was an easier way to get out. Maybe add a configurable
escape key like for SSH?

Ulrich

CMU Sieve pluigin missing proper charset support
Hello,
After testing the Sieve plugin for the LDA, I have noticed that it does
not handle charset issues properly. IETF draft says:
4.3. Subject and From Parameters
The ":subject" parameter specifies a subject line to attach to any
vacation response that is generated. UTF-8 characters can be used in
the string argument; implementations MUST convert the string to

A simple rc.d jail patch to enable priority
Hello,
I have written this tiny little patch to the jail rc.d script, which
allows user to set jail nice value. It doesn't change any default
behaviour.
Can that make it to the trees?
Patch attached.

Documentation link on new Firefox CentOS 7 splash screen
Just my two cents: Anyone thought of asking Red Hat to use documentation? I think they are getting much from the community so to copy public accessible documentation when permitted by RH could be an easy way.
Why not giving that a try?

Hmisc or Lattice plot with error bars, Depth (independent variable) on Y axis
I am trying to create some plots of concentration versus depth. I want Depth on the Y axis and the concentrations on the X axis. I also need to plot error bars.
The xYplot function in Hmisc is very nearly ideal but I have to put depth on the x-axis to get it to work. When I transpose the X and Y axes in the xYplot command, the error bars disappear (no surprise given the help file). It there a

Suggestion for the posting guide
I was preparing an e-mail for the help list and ran across a quandary.
When asking for help it is useful to include the code/data so others can
run your code and test it. I was running code on a data frame and wanted
to include a small version of the data frame. The data frame was based
on experimental data. What is the best way to do this? I didn't want to
send an attachment so a wrote code

Lattice device page options-margins
I am using lattice to make figures as pdfs:
trellis.device(device = "pdf",file = "Figure6.pdf",color = FALSE)
I need to specify some blank space on the left-hand margins (the pages
will be bound so we need about 0.5 inch)). I have tried a number of
solutions but none seems to work (e.g. par.set). Can this be done when
initiating the plotting device? Or is the some other way

Problems raised to 1/3 power and NaN
I am debugging some code and found a function that returns and error most of the time. I have issolated the problem to when it raises an argument to the 1/3 power but for the life of me I can not figure out why it is not working. i have gone through the FAQs and have found nothing (not to say I might have missed something). I am highly embarrased with my inability find the problem (my face is

Range plots (lattice or base?)
I am looking to create what I would call a "simple variation" on the
boxplot. What I would like to do is to be able to plot the upper and
lower confidence limits as the "box" and the 10th and 90th percentile as
the whiskers. What I have done is write the code to create a dataframe,
the columns of which are the mean, sd, 10th percentile, 90th percentile,
lower confidence limit
