any recent experience combining GlusterFS w/ Xen?
Hi Folks, Anybody have any recent experience building a small cluster that combines GlusterFS and Xen (with bonus points for a Debian environment)? We''re getting ready to shift from a 2-node Xen/Pacemaker/DRBD environment to a 4-node environment - and I''d really like to be able to create/migrate/failover/delete VMs transparently across all 4 nodes. Seems like Gluster might

interesting installation problem - interaction between drbd and xen
Hi, I''ve been building up a new HA system, running Xen on DRBD devices. Configuration this applies to: Debian Lenny xen-linux-system-2.6.26-2-xen-686 package |**|drbd8-modules-2.6.26-2-686 drbd8-modules-2.6.26-2-xen-686 As I''ve been building the system, I ran into an interesting problem, with two symptoms: 1. running VMs would come back up after a reboot, but would hang on

ext3 on ENBD report
Hi All, For those who are interested or use ENBD, I've just completed my investigation into the stability and performance of ENBD in a variety of setups using ext3. The report is available at http://www.namkas.com/enbd/ Matthew -- Matthew Sackman Nottingham England BOFH Excuse Board: You need to upgrade your VESA local bus to a MasterCard local bus.

Problem with converting a list of grids to a list of polygons
Hi. For a spatial analysis (its visualization) I need to produce a map of conditions and traits. When I used SpatialPixelsDataFrame (sp package) my grid cells were regular and between each row was a small gap, which is not only messy but incorrect. So I generated the coords of each grid from the centroids in order to elongate the cells manually (or does anybody know another way to solve this?).

how well will this work
Hi Folks, I find myself trying to expand a 2-node high-availability cluster from to a 4-node cluster. I'm running Xen virtualization, and currently using DRBD to mirror data, and pacemaker to failover cleanly. The thing is, I'm trying to add 2 nodes to the cluster, and DRBD doesn't scale. Also, as a function of rackspace limits, and the hardware at hand, I can't separate

Xen and EVMS/Raid5 - Null pointer dereference
Hi, A problem with EVMS and Xen: I have patched a 2.6 kernel with the evms patches and then with the Xen patched, compiled and installed it. (kernel is 2.6.11.9 - which is what this server has been running for the past few months w/o the evms patches) At first everything seems to work just fine, I am able to use evms to create a new "volume", in this case it is based on MD/RAID-5 but

For iSCSI, have a look at iscsi-init at sourceforge. http://iscsi-init.sourceforge.net. Load it as a module in an initrd and it uses some kernel parameters and automatically configures the network and then

Predict Fanny Membership
Hello List, My question is an elementary one. I have run a fuzzy kmeans cluster using FANNY to group freshwater fish assemblages. I then went in the field to validate that classification and have retrieved new assemblage data for a new suite of streams. Therefore I would like to use Predict to determine how well the original clustering fits the new data. However I have not figured out a

Re: [Linux-HA] OCFS2 - Memory hog?
Yes, the clients are doing lots of creates. But my question is, if this is a memory leak, why does ocfs2 eat up the memory as soon as the clients start accessing the filesystem. Within about 5-10 minutes all physical RAM is consumed but then the memory consumption stops. It does not go into swap. Do you happen to know what version of ocfs2 has the fix? If it was a leak would the process not be

How to manage images/partitions for xen DomUs?
Hello, I am trying to figure out the best way, how to configure a small cluster with xen and High Availability (Heartbeat). I have two servers and a few virtual machines. What I need is to ensure, that images or partitions of the machines will be mirrored between the two nodes (maybe with drbd?). But that is not all - I also need to enlarge the disks (because of growing databases) of virtual

EVMS?
EVMS Enterprise Volume Management System sounds interesting, looks like it supported CentOS4, but not CentOS5. But maybe I'm not looking in the right places. -- Drew Einhorn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... help configuring netboot over remote serial terminal
Hi Folks, I'm trying to install Debian onto a headless server (Supermicro X8SIE-LN4F motherboard). The on-board IPMI BMC redirects the serial port to COM3, and I can talk to it just fine over a remote console connection. I've been trying to install Debian remotely, and have the DHCP and TFTP servers working, and things seem to work (at least into the Splash screen) if I'm using

I am doing various searches without a result ... (google shows me a lot of references, mailing lists, etc but not a good doc) Many thanks. -- CL Martinez carlopmart {at} gmail {d0t} com

lvm / raidN / evms
The tools for raidN (mdadm and friends) don't seem to compile with klibc. Has anyone tackled that, lvm or evms yet in a klibc-based initramfs, or do you usually include uclibc or something when it comes time to get fancy (also, looking ahead to crypto-root and such) Tks, Jeff Bailey

rsync 2.5.6 with ssh to a remote server
Hi, I would like to use the new interface style: rsync --rsh="ssh -l username -i key" <src> username@host::module, however I get "reset by peer" errors. Can someone give some suggestions, please? Do I need to provide a symlink to the /etc/rysncd.conf file from within the user's dir? Note, I have the groups set to same as user and the group exists. Where does

Expanding EVMS raid1 array
I started with two 160GB drives in RAID1 using EVMS on Centos 4.4. Both drives have now been replaced with 320GB drives but naturally are only offering 160GB (they were replaced individually at different times and self-recovered as they were RAID1. I cannot work out how to increase the size of the array to use all the available space on the disk. If I understand correctly, I should unmount the
