RJS templates - newbie
I am trying to test drive RJS templates in Rails 1.2. Here is what I did: create table categories (name varchar(255) ); rails RJSTest cd RJSTest rake update_javascripts script/generate controller home index add script/generate model category Note: When I did a rake update_javascripts, I did not see any output. I configured database.yml to talk to mysql. Next I wrote

RJS Template rendering viewable code
Hi, I''m adding some RJS templates to my application and everything seams to function properly except the final rendering shows the javascript code created by the template and what I think are line breaks. The same partial is used in two other places and seams to work fine when called from an RHTML file. Rendered: new Effect.Fade(''job14'',{});

RJS and remote forms
I''ve run into what I think is a browser bug related to using remote_forms pushed in an RJS update. In my controller, I have an action that creates a new model and returns a form for one of its children: def create_party party = Party.create render :update do |page| page.insert_html :top, ''party-list'', :partial => ''party_header'',

error when rendering partial from an email template
Hi, For an ecommerce application, I am trying to create an html email that summarizes a customers order. (This is very similar to the Agile Rails book page 417.) My templates are in two directories. views/ order_mailer/ sent.rhtml store/ _order_summary.rhtml _line_item.rhtml sent.rhtml needs to render the _order_summary.rhtml partial which needs to render the _line_item.rhtml

RJS Templates and the Replace semantics
I have an issue with the way replace_html works in an RJS template. This is a copy of a post on my blog (http://blog.craz8.com <http://blog.craz8.com/> ) that describes the problem and my working solution to the problem. If I have a collection of things that are output like this: <div id="things"> <% @things.each do |thing| %> <%= render :partial =>

Is it possible to render RXML partials in RHTML templates?
I have a RHTML template and I would like the output of a RXML partial to be embedded within it. When I do <%= render(:partial => ''list_edit'') %> where there exists a _list_edit.rmxl file, I get XML parsing errors in the browser - I believe because the partial is causing the rendered content to be identified as XML instead of HTML. Is there any way to

rendering templates outside defaultl views location
Hi, I''d like to accomplish the following situation (pseudo code): IF file /path/to/some/tpldit exists render that ELSE render file from default tpl dir END Should I override some built-in Rails methods for this or is there an easier (yet clean and DRY) way of doing this? I''ve done something similar for the assetTagHelper related functions using a tiny plugin that

RJS Templates
I have a page that when a form gets submitted, I use page.insert_html to stick a div in another div. The problem is, when I want to refernce it later on, the IDs are not unique. So to get around this, I concatenated the id of the item to the end of the div name. Which is fine. I did the same in the RJS template as well, but it''s not finding that div. I tried it with string

render rhtml templates in worker
I''m trying to make a worker that will render a large page to a file, very similar to what rails'' builtin cacheing does except with the rendering done outside of rails. The only advice I''ve found is to use ActionController::Integration::Session.new but this doesn''t seem to allow setting session variables the way the functional tests do. Is there a way to

Improve the rendering speed of rhtml
I found through the log file that the render of the rhtml template would take too much time if there exists ruby code in the rhtml files. In many cases, these ruby code are tied with these rhtml files closely and can not be decoupled from that, therefore,i have a question that,is there exist some way to improve the rendering speed of rhtml when some ruby codes are included? -- Posted via

Javascript repeating fields.
The one area I keep hitting my head against in Rails is repeating fields via javascript. I frequently have forms where one or more fields are actually broken out into sub tables because there can be multiple simultaneous values. Rails seems to want to you to use the [] construct in the form helpers (e.g. text_field(''employee[]'', ''name'')), but I can''t

Rendering partials in ActionMailer?
Hello, Is anyone out there rendering partials successfully in ActionMailer templates? I am having trouble with this, and wasn''t sure if it was my configuration or something with a version of Rails I''m running. We''ve got over 15 mailer templates, all working like a charm. But we have a piece of shared code, that we''d really like to not have to copy &
