winbind errors for trusted domain (of a one-way trust)
Hi, Our AD domain "A.COM" has a one-way trust with "B.COM" with B.COM being the trusted domain. We have a samba server that is joined to A.COM on which users of B.COM need access. We have samba and winbind configured and it seems to be working correctly except for the following message that keeps on appearing in the log.wb-B logfile: [2017/05/04 14:42:53.727050, 0]

Samba 3.0.0 RC1: Unable to find a suitable server
Hiya, I compiled the RPMs of Samba 3.0.0 RC1 according to "../samba-3.0.0rc1/packaging/RedHat/samba.spec" and installed the binaries from the freshly compiled rpm on my up2date Redhat 9.0 Server. winbind occasionally failing to find domain controllers for trusted domains
Hi there We have a bunch of Win2K3 trusted domains that are parts of other forests from our own Win2K3 forest. Most times Samba works just fine with allowing users from such trusted domains to connect to its shares, but now and then it "gets out of whack" and loses access/information about these "other" domains. "log level = 9" shows things like the following where

winbind: SID_TO_UID not working for trusted domains?
Hi all, I have a problem with the mapping sid -> uid. Setup: * Samba 3.0.10, security = ads, role is ads member server. * Several trusted domains * ADS is in sync with an Openldap server (posixAccount) * winbind must not use idmap (Because every Winuser already has an uid which is in ADs and on the Ldap server) Lets say we have one global domain GLOBAL and several subdomains A,B,C

trouble joining AD domain.
Hi all, I'm running samba-3.0.25b w/Linux 2.6.16.27 (SUSE 10.1), newly compiled. I've joined the AD domain (which is a subdomain) whose PDC is Win2K3 server and which is running in native mode but allowing NT4 members. From the HOWTO, I followed the instructions - manually created the computer account, then did the "net rpc join ...." and successfully joined the AD

unable to join AD domain: Failed to parse cldap reply
I have a suse 10.2 system, that runs the latest samba version, Suse provides for 10.2: 3.0.23d-6 After a long time I had to join that system to an AD domain. Unfortunately that did not work as expected. net ads join -U DE7B07K0@WW901.MYDOM.NET -d4 asks for a password, but then it fails with: ... "getent group" shows AD groups; "getent passwd" only shows local users
I had winbind configured so that it could fetch users from AD. Everything was working properly, but something happened in the past couple of days (no change in the Samba config) I'm not able to diagnose. "getent group" enumerates groups, "getent passwd" doesn't. "wbinfo -g" returns groups, whereas I get this error when trying to get users: # wbinfo -u
