ZFS encryption?? - [Fwd: [osol-announce] SXCE Build 105 available
It was rumored that Nevada build 105 would have ZFS encrypted file systems integrated into the main source. In reviewing the Change logs (URL''s below) I did not see anything mentioned that this had come to pass. Its going to be another week before I have a chance to play with b105. Does anyone know specifically if b105 has ZFS encryption? Thanks, Jerry -------- Original Message

Cygwin, Rsync, and Raid5
Hello all! I've got CGYWIN running on an NT4 server, which in turn allows me to run Rsync as a daemon on this system. And might I say, it works most excellently, except for one flaw. It doesn't work on my raid drive(s). I have a 56 gig NTFS RAID5 drive running off an adaptec raid-port controller card. I have two other drives in this system, a 4 gig SCSI boot drive, and 60 gig IDE

compaq r4000 32 bit and 64 bit install
Gents, I first installed the 32 bit version (as you might have read) of centos 4.2, after downloading x86_64 the install process/progress is about the same. going VERY slow... The screen for formatting the partitions took a LONG time (3 partitions 10 GIG, 2 GIG swap and 50 GIG). While on that screen and moving the mouse it lagged big time and could not keep up. Anyway just reporting that so far

stalling during delta processing
I have a 29 Gig full backup on a remote server (lets call if fedor) that is called Kbup_1. I have a 1.3 Gig incremental backup on my local server. I have rsync 2.6.2 on both servers. Both are RedHat Linux 9.1 on i-686 hardware platforms. I issue the command "time rsync -avv --rsh=rsh --stats /test/Kibbutz/Kbup_1 fedor://test/Kibbutz". The synch takes ~5 minutes of real time and about

Hello All. I have five Centos 4.4 x86_64 (amd fx-62) boxes with 4 gig of Corsair dual channel ram running kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL (smp). The sixth box is the same except for video card and ram. It is using 8gig of GSkill dual channel ram and has a very cheap ATI video card in it. This box will segfault on boot unless I use noapic acpi=off and nolapic. error rsyncing large file
Trying to rsync a rather large file from a windows server to a centos server and all but this is working fine. As it's a 20 gig file I am trying to send the diff of with a -c, I suspect over the low bandwidth this presents an issue. I also stage this file locally on another centos server and could calc the diff and create a patch and send that, comparing checksums etc... A quick look at

I have installed 1.5 gig of ram into the server and it made no difference. On the latest occasion I dropped back to single user and It didn't release the memory. There

Raid issue
I am curious about something. I have a friend that made a software raid 1 partition across a 250 gig 7200 rpm drive and an 80 gig 7200 rpm hard disk drive. he shut the system down normally to clean it out and when it came back up he gets the following: a superblock on /dev/md0 failed would mdadm --assemble --force fix it or lead to more damage? -- My "Foundation" verse: Isa 54:17
