Audio CD problem on laptop VGN-SZ61MN
Is there anyone out there who has installed FreeBSD on the above Sony laptop ? Both ''cat filename > /dev/dsp0.0'' or ''vlc cdda:///dev/acd0@1 are OK. If I run ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play'', there is no sound. But the output of ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 status audio'' is alright. (same behaviour for cd0 instead of acd0) And the output

6.4-PRELEASE sporadically panicking with fatal trap 12
Hello, I'm running 6.4-PRELEASE, last built on 2008-10-05 with /usr/src updated on the same day. I had a panic that looks to me very similiar to the one described here (hence the subject): http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2008-September/045405.html What caught my curiosity is the message: Unread portion of the kernel message buffer: acd0: WARNING - TEST_UNIT_READY read

Orinoco 802.11b PC Card doesn't work on STABLE
Hi, I have Orinoco 802.11b PC Card from Proxim. I plugged it to pcmcia slot, but It doesn't work - no blinking LEDs, no wi0 in ifconfig. I have 7.1-PRERELEASE, laptop Prestigio Nobile 157. On NetBSD seems working, but NetBSD is not friendly with me. if_wi driver included in kernel. ----- dmesg Copyright (c) 1992-2008 The FreeBSD Project. FREEBSD 7.1-STABLE crashes when trying to mount USB device of solaris UFS filesystem
Hi everybody, today I met the following problems on my freebsd box. I had a USB stick of opensolaris bootable USB image and tried to mount it on my fbsd box. The first time, when I tried to mount the usb device, my system freezed and then rebooted giving me one core in my dumpdev. When I tried to redo the mounting, the kernel informed me that the filesystem needed to be fsck'd before

powerd not behaving with an Asus A8V-MX and Athlon 64 X2 3800+
I have an Asus A8V-MX motherboard with an AMD Athlong 64 X2 3800+ CPU and I'm trying to run powerd to keep it cooler/quieter/greener. I'm running -STABLE (6.1-RC) cvsup'ed a couple of days ago, with a kernel config that consists of the SMP sample plus an atapicam device. I'm loading the cpufreq.ko module in /boot/loader.conf. I've attached my dmesg output and sysctl -a

help ith burncd (Input/output error, 6.1-RC, plextor PX-740a)
I have a new system which includes a Plextor PX-740a DVD+-R/RW CD-R/RW drive attached to an Asus A8V-MX motherboard. When I try to use burncd to burn a cd, it writes all of the data, says "fixating CD, please wait.." and then reports burncd: ioctl(CDRIOCFIXATE): Input/output error Oddly enough, the CD seems to be usable. I can successfully burn the same file if I use cdrecord. The

GELI partition mount on boot fails after 7.0 -> 7.1-PRERELEASE upgrade
I was using a GELI partition for /usr/home on 7.0, so it attaches and mounts on boot. The problem is it stopped working after the system was upgraded to RELENG_7/7.1-PRERELEASE. Here's how it goes: I have the following /etc/fstab: /dev/ad0s1b none swap sw 0 0 /dev/ad0s1a / ufs rw 1 1 /dev/ad0s1d

support of SMBus on ICH3
Hello all, I have problems with enabling support for SMBus on STABLE. My motherboard is ICH3 (82801CA). As suggested in LINT I added 3 lines to my kernel config: device smbus device ichsmb device smb But after compiling, installing and rebooting /dev/smb[01] are not available and no changes in kernel startup messages either. So I

FreeBSD 10 Beta 2: make installkernel failure with installer provided ZFS configuration.
Hi, I was trying to rebuild world on a FreeBSD 10 test system, that I had just installed. ZFS root was setup. I let the installation program do all the ZFS setup and configuration. I put root on a 5 disk encrypted raidz array. Besides the installer configuring 5 times the amount of swap space I asked for (asked for 8gb, installer put 8gb on each drive, for 40gb in total.) everything was working

IPMI Console: No luck once OS is booted
I have a current RELENG_7 running on: http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/4U/7045/SYS-7045B-TR+.cfm with the -3+ IPMI card. I can interact with the BIOS, etc, but no joy once we get past the loader. Anyone have ideas? Attached is the kernel config, and the /var/run/dmesg.boot file. -- Larry Rosenman http://www.lerctr.org/~ler Phone: +1 512-248-2683

dvd+rw+r for FreeBSD -- Progress but no success
That's where I first went for information. I've successfully burned a CD-R using cdrecord, as opposed to burncd, which I would normally use for ide burners. I will check on the firmware. ATA driver not as good in 4.8 as 4.5?
I have a Lite-On 24102B burner on an Epox 7KXA (VIA 686A southbridge) together with a few SCSI disks. I recently upgraded from FreeBSD 4.5 to 4.7 then almost immediately to 4.8. I've had trouble with the burner since. With FreeBSD 4.5, I used "sysctl hw.atamodes=---,---,dma,---" to set the burner to DMA. Everything then worked fine. As far as I know it was using UDMA33.

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Still ATAPICAM Lockup/Slowdown]]
Thomas, Have spoken to Soren, from my bootlog he believes that the problem is in atapicam causing the system to lock up. He is happy to answer some questions but doesnt have time to delve into atapicam himself. Did you author atapicam, I have seen your name on the sourcecode, can you help me further? Whats next? Thanks Adam. -------------- next part -------------- An embedded message was
