Corrupted transaction log file, dotlocks..?
I'm new to Dovecot but I've been able to get it up and running on a test basis without too much difficulty. I'm running dovecot-stable-20050508 with maildir, under Linux (an old Gentoo setup that's been stable for about 2,5 years). Mail client is Thunderbird. However, in the course of experimentally copying the accumulated household email (95000 emails from the last 10 years)

Transaction log file issue on dovecot-stable
Situation: dovecot-stable-20050528 on x86, Linux 2.4.30, ext3, maildir I'm trying to use the imapsync utility (http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/) to copy 1500 messages from a UW-imap server to dovecot. After about 100 messages are successfully appended, I'm seeing this in the server log, following which all APPENDs fail. May 28 09:01:06 [dovecot] IMAP(allen):

fetchmail on demand
I hoping this is an RTFM ... and somebody can point me at the correct 'FM' :-) I've just spent a while setting my new Debian , allways-on box in what I suspect is a generally useful configuration. I have fetchmail(1) collect mail from many mailboxes via pop3. I store these mails in different mboxs according to rules in procmail(1) I then offer these out to the household via imap

Sorting messages by date
I've recovered a load of messages from a different mail server without it's index file (it was corrupted). I now have thousands of messages which display in Outlook Express (yes, you may puke at this), all as today's date. However when I read them in Pine, the date of each message is displayed correctly, but they're in no particular order whatsoever. There are several

Setting up an email server
I am sure this is a really stupid question but I could do with some advice. I am setting an old PC as an email/file server using Gentoo Linux. So far I have configured getting emails from a couple of a pop3 accounts I have with ISPs/Mail Service providers using getmail and dovecot. I can access those emails from a variety of clients using IMAP without problem. The next stage I want to

Dovecot Setup as just a local IMAP server.
Hey All, Id just like to start by thanking Timo Sirainen and any others that helped produce such a great IMAP server, it was a breeze to set up with no previous experience in mail servers. What I am trying to do is setup a spare computer to run Dovecot and that It stores all my email from my accounts which are all accessed through POP. This way instead of being tied to one mail client (and

Dovecot stable slow
A few days ago I installed dovecot stable to replace uw-imap. The install went well and all boxes were converted ok. When accessing the new imap server though, certain operations seem much slower, in particular, moving mail between boxes is very slow, and I have received several complaints from users that the mail server has slowed down. I can't figure out what the slow point is as maildir

POP3 protection
I have some users that I will not allow to use POP3 thru my system, but force them to use webmail. Would it be possible to put an extra option in dovecot.conf to force this: # ----------------------------------------------------------------- # Logon processes # user = <username>,<password> # ----------------------------------------------------------------- user =

Syncronizing two IMAP servers
I spend time in two places, in different countries. I have a local network in each place, with IMAP servers on each network. I collect email by fetchmail from various servers, and read email on my laptop with KMail. I tried using just one IMAP server, but this proved impractical. So I have two collections of the same sub-folders, on the two servers. I have two questions: 1. Is there a simpler

Order of emails
Hi We have an issue regarding the order in which emails are displayed in an imap folder, which our customers regularly complain about. By default, emails are returned from a folder in the order in which they were placed into the folder, which makes perfect sense. However, if an email is moved into another folder, it will always appear at the top, no matter how old it is. We could order the

Instrumental variable quantile estimation of spatial autoregressive models
Dear all, I would like to implement a spatial quantile regression using instrumental variable estimation (according to Su and Yang (2007), Instrumental variable quantile estimation of spatial autoregressive models, SMU economics & statistis working paper series, 2007, 05-2007, p.35 ). I am applying the hedonic pricing method on land transactions in Luxembourg. My original data set contains

great disappearing email mystery
Have there been any issues with dovecot and using outlook express (imap) as an email client? I have had a couple of users come up with random missing emails. Im trying to figure out if it is user error, or something wacky in my mailserver. I cant find anything telling in maillog files or my messages. Dovecot version is 1.0.3. Its ok to reply to me, I get list messages digest.

Finding common an unique elements in character vectors
Dear R-list, I have a problem which I think is quite basic, but so far google has not helped me. I have two vectors like this: vector_1 <- c(Belgium, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal) vector_2 <- c(Denmark, Luxembourg) I would like to find the elements in vector_1 that are not in vector_2 so that i get a vector with these countries: Belgium, Spain, Greece,
