wbinfo -u returns 0xc0000022
Hello, I am attempting to add a Redhat 9 box to our NT4 domain as a member server. I want to enumerate user and group info so I don't have to make two sets of user and group accounts. I've setup samba (version 2.2.7a) and pamd the way I think I'm supposed to, but wbinfo -u always returns 0xc0000022. I've found this particular error mentioned in a few articles, but applying the

Logging "issue" with PAM authentication
Hi, We currently have a postfix/dovecot setup using nss_ldap with PAM for authentication. Everything is working fine, but there are excessive "error" messages in /var/log/messages that I'd like to prevent from happening. Since auth_userdb defaults to passwd and that our users are not in the passwd file, we get the following message everytime a user logs in: Jul 7 13:34:37

Pam trouble
Hi folks, I can't get dovecot to authenticate properly against ldap/pam. I've been fiddling with it for several days now, to no avail. It keeps crashing with: Child died with signal 11 The system is Solaris9. Enclosed is a trace of dovecot-auth for a connection to pop with correct username and password and my config. Any help is appreciated. Cheers Benjamin

Use of pam_smbpass
Hi all. I've spent the last several days trying to get pam_smbpass working on my RH62 box with samba-2.2.x unsuccessfully, and hoped someone could help. I've tried versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.6, but I suspect it's perhaps a misunderstanding of what exactly pam_smbpass is used for. There are a few things I'm trying to do: - sync /etc/shadow with /etc/samba/smbpasswd - sync

dovecot-auth leaves zombies
Hi all, I have installed and configured dovecot on two different machines, so I don't have much experience with this server. One installation is giving me serious problems, that I have a hard time tracing. From the beginning: the machine is a debian mix (stable/unstable) dovecot 0.9.11, real users authenticated via pam_ldap/nss_ldap. It serves ~70 users, all of them using Outlook, Outlook

Locking user accounts
Hello all, At this moment I am running a samba-ldap-pdc. This works really good. But what worries me is the following thing: user accounts never get locked. This is a problem cause anyone can guess or use bruteforce to enter password. Is there a solution/workaround for this? I want the following situation : when a user tries to logon for 4 times I want the account to lock out the account.

authenticate using pam_ldap.so
Hi All, I've been trying for quite some time now, but feel that there's just that one situation that doesn't work, and that's probably the one thing I'd like to use. I've got a simple samba server (3.0.23c) on RHEL5 that only has one large share. That share is to be used by a certain number of users, that can exchange large amounts of data using that share, but not

pam_ldap-184 compile error
I tried to compile pam_ldap-184 but it gave lots of error msgs. BTW, I have successfully compiled nss_ldap-255. For pam_ldap, my configure looks like: ./configure --with-ldap-lib=openldap --with-ldap-dir=/usr/local --with-ldap-conf-file=/usr/local/etc/openldap/ldap.conf and the following is the configure output --- start of configure output --- creating cache ./config.cache checking host system

dovecot-auth hangs with IO leak
Hi dovecot, I am using the debian dovecot packages on a system running LDAP. My /etc/pam.d/common-* looks like this, which simply means try /etc/passwd first, and try LDAP using the same password if it is failed. account [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so account required pam_ldap.so use_first_pass account required pam_permit.so auth [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so auth

nsswitch not working for ldap
I am following the instruction in Samba by Example chapter 6 on a RHEL4 server. Everything seems OK until I get to 6.3.5.7, which says to do the following:- root# getent passwd | grep Adminstrator which returns nothing, indicating that the nsswitch (nss_ldap libary) is not working. I cannot find anything in any of the log files to give my a clue nor any hints on how to debug this. Any

Samba with LDAP - conflict with pam_ldap?
Hi, I'm using Samba 2.2.4 with LDAP support (OpenLDAP 2.0.23), and with pam_ldap included in the rpm nss_ldap 1.86 from Redhat (I'm on Linux Redhat 7.2). All these things are working well (I use the same object SambaAcount under PosixAccount in order to authenticate all these things), but a problem appears when I'm trying to list all the accounts and groups from my Win2000

Changing User password from ssh member server
Hi Rowland, This is a CentOS 6.7 server. I was able to make some progress. I have edited /etc/pam.d/system-auth, and now it looks like: auth required pam_env.so auth sufficient pam_unix.so nullok try_first_pass auth requisite pam_succeed_if.so uid >= 500 quiet auth sufficient pam_ldap.so use_first_pass auth required pam_deny.so account

Samba, Passwd, LDAP auth
Hi, I have searched all over and I am at a deep loss. I have Openldap setup and it works fine holding users and is searchable, etc. I have samba setup to auth via LDAP and it works. I can NOT for the life of me get system password stuff to work. The strange thing is, that my "testuser" can telnet to the computer and login and can login with samba fine. I can not ssh into the

ssh + ldap issues
In an effort to install cfengine (which requires 0.96b + of ssl), we've had to recompile all sorts of related packages on our RedHat 6.2 boxes. In addition, we're trying to implement an LDAP directory. Basically the source RPMS for RedHat 7.3 were installed and compiled on a 6.2 box to get this all to work. We're running into the following problem on the 6.2 boxes after having

kerberos + gssapi password change
Hello I am not a developer, but since this is a more advanced issue I rather post to this list than to the users list, I hope this is OK. We are currently running openssh with simon's gssapi patch and want to move towards the new integrated solution with openssh-3.7.1p2. A problem we experienced in both versions of openssh is that we are not able to change the kerberos password, when it
