Dovecot fails to come up when using ACLs (1.0.b5)
Hi, I just had a go at enabling ACLs with 1.0b5. As per the docs I've done the configuration bit: protocol imap { .. mail_plugins = acl } ... plugin { acl = vfile:/usr/local/etc/dovecot-acls } and created the dovecot-acls file. When I start dovecot, it hangs for a few seconds and dies with this: [root at redback root]# /etc/init.d/dovecot restart Shutting down IMAP daemon

Dovecot 2.0.5 crash when It cannot remove maildir
This is scenario that cause segmentation fault in my Dovecot. Maybe I do something wrong, but I don't know what... We run: mailbox_delete mailbox_delete do: mailbox_open(box) < 0 and after we have: box->v.delete(box) which run index_storage_mailbox_delete index_storage_mailbox_delete do: mailbox_close(box); and now mailbox is closed (this close box->view and mailbox open) Try to

Patch for auto-creating home directories
I've created a patch that adds a feature that is helpful to my setup. If 'parent_dir_umask' is set in the configuration file, any missing directories in the home directory path are created. The home directory itself is created according to the 'umask' setting, 'parent_dir_umask' is only used for intermediate directories that might need creating. This is useful to me,

Seeing dovecot crash under rc6, seems to go almost exactly every 2.5 hours...
We're getting the following crash report, but I'm not sure it contains anything immediately useful (especially since we're running on a minority platform in OS X)... Anyone see where we might be able to resolve this? The crash doesn't kill existing imap processes, but dovecot/imap-login needs to be restarted. ********** Host Name: mailserver Date/Time: 2006-08-10

PATCH allow_zero_gid option
Hey, Well, that was easy :-) Patch against CVS follows: Summary: Created a boolean option allow_zero_gid, when set to yes it will allow logins from users whose group id is zero. Tested with KMail 3.1.1 on FreeBSD 4.8. I'm not sure if my method for passing the boolean via the environment is correct, it looks a little on the ugly side. Index: src/lib/restrict-access.c

Apple patch 10
Patch #10 allows the pop3 and imap mail processes to handle multiple clients. We know this weakens the security model but it greatly increases scalability especially when clients are idle. Here's how it works. When there are no mail processes, or none serving fewer than mail_max_connections clients, the master creates a new mail process pretty much like it does now, but with some
