Automatically inferring %d on multi-domain virtual install ?
very intrigued by your solution Timo, have attempted something similar in the past to no avail. When I tried I was unable to retain the user at domain when setting the domain as extra field - protected is new to me and can't find documentation - but also doesn't work :( # cat passwd.domains 10.100.1.1:::::::domain:protected=foo.org 10.100.1.2:::::::domain:protected=bar.org # cat

logwatch reporting
I just launched a new mailserver that is using dovecot. My previous mailserver used courier-mail. I am expecting better things with this new server, but I was use to some login information in logwatch that I am not seeing now. For example I would get: [IMAPd] Logout stats: ==================== User | Logouts | Downloaded | Mbox Size

fstat() errors on /srv/mail/<username>/dovecot.index.log
Dovecot version 2.1.7 Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Kernel 3.2.0-35-generic x86_64 I'm not sure exactly when this started occurring, but sporatically users report issues receiving email, having email saved to "Sent," etc. Looking in dovecot.log, I see the following errors: 2013-10-16 09:53:20 imap-login: Info: Login: user=<user1>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=27434,

scaling to multiple data files
Hello, I have logging information for multiple machines, which I am trying to summarize and graph. So far, I process each host individually, but I would like to summarize the user count across multiple hosts. I want to answer the question "how many unique users logged in on a certain day across a group of machines"? I'm not quite sure how to scale the data frame and analysis to

Dovecot 1.1.1 killed with SIGABRT
Hi folks, with Dovecot 1.1.1, I've had two "crashes" (SIGABRT) recently. Dovecot 1.1.1 has been compiled from source and is running on Fedora 8 Linux 32 Bit (all patches) with custom OpenSSL 0.9.8h. [ output of "dovecot -n" ] # 1.1.1: /usr/local/dovecot/etc/dovecot.conf ssl_cert_file: /usr/local/dovecot/etc/dovecot.crt ssl_key_file: /usr/local/dovecot/etc/dovecot.key

[extensions.conf] Any idea why not working as it should?
Hello I noticed a small bug in the way my extensions.conf work: Users can choose extensions 1-4 or 9 to tell why they're calling, and I'll send an e-mail to the person(s) to whom is involved. Extension 4 is actually for personal messages for User1, and extension 9 is for everyone (User1, User2, and User3). => For some reason, when the caller chooses extension 4, both User1 and User2

unable to log on to Samba shares remotely
Dear, I have a working Samba 3.5.6 running on one of my servers onto which (existing) users can successfully log on. Recently, I needed to add some projects and some users but I cannot succeed in letting these new users access the shares. The smb.conf file is very small and I had only 4 users until now. In the following smb.conf, projA_dirs is only accessed by user1, while projB_dirs is the new

Share Access
Could someone help me understand if what I'm seeing with share access is correct? On my samba domain I have two users (user1 and user2) and one share; the share has attribute "writelist = user1". On a linux machine I: mount the share with "mount -t cifs -o username=user1" successfully open a file in the share for writing with the perl "open" function

Fwd: SMB question
Hi, I sent you an email but now when I read it again, it looks like there were some mistakes in it... Please ignore that and address only the following message: Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I really couldn't find it anywhere on the web and if you could only provide me with a quick hint, it would be really helpful!
