Oracle on ZFS vs. UFS
Hi, I''m preparing a personal TPC-H benchmark. The goal is not to measure or optimize the database performance, but to compare ZFS to UFS in similar configurations. At the moment I''m preparing the tests at home. The test setup is as follows: . Solaris snv_37 . 2 x AMD Opteron 252 . 4 GB RAM . 2 x 80 GB ST380817AS . Oracle 10gR2 (small SGA (320m)) The disks also contain the OS

Share and Remote mounting ZFS for anonyous ftp
Experts, Sorry if this is a FAQ but I''m not on this alias. Please reply directly to me. I''m working on a project setting up a web portal that will use 2 hosts for load balancing ftp''s. I wanted to use ZFS to showcase it to our customer. What I''ve been trying to setup is anonymous ftp to a host that is sharing a ZFS file system. Anonymous ftp is configured and

Sniping a bad inode in zfs?
I''ve have a single-fs, mirrored pool on my hands which recently went through a bout of corruption. I''ve managed to clean up a good bit of it but it appears that I''m left with some directories which have bad refcounts. For example, I have what should be an empty directory "foo" which, when you cd into it and ls -al, it shows a incorrect refcount for a empty

error trying to authenticate from Linux to AD
I'm following the Debian wiki at https://wiki.debian.org/AuthenticatingLinuxWithActiveDirectory since it seems to be the only one I can find and since I'm running Debian/Bookworm on an AMD64 system. I'm in the section "Configure Kerberos" which is near the start. My /etc/krb5.con file (with most comments removed) is: > # cat /etc/krb5.conf > [logging] >

ZFS vs. Apple XRaid
Hello all, After setting up a Solaris 10 machine with ZFS as the new NFS server, I''m stumped by some serious performance problems. Here are the (admittedly long) details (also noted at http://www.netmeister.org/blog/): The machine in question is a dual-amd64 box with 2GB RAM and two broadcom gigabit NICs. The OS is Solaris 10 6/06 and the filesystem consists of a single zpool stripe

You may have included this in another email however I will ask anyway, did you set DNS to your server in the Linux and Windows clients? Can you check if a Windows Server can join? Can you use DNS management to check the DNS on you samba server? On Mar 28, 2016 2:15 PM, "Dale Schroeder" <dale at briannassaladdressing.com> wrote: > No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2

rsync for migrating oracle datafiles
Hi - a question for all ye rsync guru's out there... I have a need to migrate some fairly large Oracle datafiles from a UFS filesystem to VxFS (VERITAS), however I am not being allowed nearly enough outage time to perform a standard file copy migration. The datafiles (of which there are about 4 are about 50GB each in size and on separate UFS filesystems. I am considering instigating a local

no logon server
I have an NT domain on Debian Stretch. It's been upgraded numerous times, but has been running for almost a decade. Since upgrading from 4.1.17 to 4.3.3 (huge Debian jump), then to 4.3.6, clients cannot connect to shares. Prior to upgrading, I found the changes mentioned for 4.2 regarding NT domains and applied them. Even so, I still cannot connect to network shares nor print to

Poor performance on NFS-exported ZFS volumes
I''m seeing some pretty pitiful performance using ZFS on a NFS server, with a ZFS volume exported (only with rw=host.foo.com,root=host.foo.com opts) and mounted on a Linux host running kernel 2.4.31. This linux kernel I''m working with is limited in that I can only do NFSv2 mounts... irregardless of that aspect, I''m sure something''s amiss. I mounted the zfs-based
