FiberChannel, and EMC tutorial?
Hi all, Can anyone explain to me, or point me to any docs that explain how the following numbers map together? I have multiple LUNS exported to my HBA''s from multiple EMC arrays. zpool status, and /dev/dsk show device names like: c0t6006048000038794003753594D333837d0 ONLINE 0 0 0 c0t6006048000038794003753594D333838d0 ONLINE 0 0 0

vnet device not appearing
Hello I have a virtual server with 3 existing VMs running on it without issue. The host has 4 NICs installed; em1 for the host, em2 and em3 already in use by other VMs. I would like to dedicate em4 to my new VM however when I create the bridge like I did for the others I do not get a vnet3 device show up in the list as shown below. I tried using the GUI and virsh to create the bridge. I ended

zfs in san
I am planning to use zfs with fiber attached san disk from a emc symmetrix''s Based on a note in the admin guide it appears that even though the symmetrixs will handle the hardware raid it is still advisable to create a zfs mirror on the host side to take full advantage of zfs''s self healing/error checking and correcting. is this true ? Additionally I am wondering how the zfs

ZFS and powerpath
How much fun can you have with a simple thing like powerpath? Here''s the story: I have a (remote) system with access to a couple of EMC LUNs. Originally, I set it up with mpxio and created a simple zpool containing the two LUNs. It''s now been reconfigured to use powerpath instead of mpxio. My problem is that I can''t import the pool. I get: pool: ###### id:

ZFS panics solaris while switching a volume to read-only
Hi, I just found out that ZFS triggers a kernel-panic while switching a mounted volume into read-only mode: The system is attached to a Symmetrix, all zfs-io goes through Powerpath: I ran some io-intensive stuff on /tank/foo and switched the device into read-only mode at the same time (symrdf -g bar failover -establish). ZFS went ''bam'' and triggered a Panic: WARNING: /pci at

Standard errors of least squares adjusted means
Hello, I have the following model: lm.7 <- lm(Y ~ F + C1 + C2 , data = EM4) F is a 4-level factor, the rest are covariates centered at their mean (Y is a two-column matrix). I have tried to find functions to give the model-adjusted means (adjusted at the covariates'means) and their standard deviations for each. (That is, what I believe is called in SAS "least square or LS-means,

Any rhyme or reason to disk dev names?
Hello, I am curious to know if there is an easy way to guess or identify the device names of disks. Previously the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 system made sense to me... I had a SATA controller card with 8 ports, and they showed up with the numbers 1-8 in the "t" position of the device name. But I just built a new system with two LSI SAS HBAs in it, and my device names are along the lines of:

Multiple OCFS intances in the same LAN
Hi, is it possible and safe to use more than one RAC-Cluster using OCFS in the same LAN? I'm considering to following setup: a 2-node production and a 2-node test system, the production data is stored in an EMC Symmetrix and for the test-system the production data is copied once to a BCV disk internally. This will give me an new independant copy of the production disk with the same contents,

device name changing
Hi. If I create a zpool with the following command: zpool create tank raidz2 da0 da1 da2 da3 da4 da5 da6 da7 and after a reboot the device names for some reason are changed so da2 and da5 are swapped, either by altering the LUN setting on the storage or by switching cables/swapping disks etc.? How will zfs handle that? Will it simply acknowledge that all devices are present and the pool is

Mongrel on Textdrive
As anyone deployed on Textdrive using Apache + Mongrel? If so did you just install the GEM locally? I have filed a support request with Textdrive querying when we will see the Mongrel GEMs installed but have received no response yet... Thanks! Where did my DID's go??
Okay, first a little background - I've been with Packet8 since a month after they started. I found that we were outgrowing their services and decided to move to an asterisk box in the office. I found a service provider that offered me a reasonable rate. After a fair ammount of testing I decided to stick with their services and port my 3 primary DID's from Packet8 to the new service.

Newbie Questions . . .
Hello all. My company currently has an older Executone PBX system that we are outgrowing. Rather than wait until the last minute to make a hasty decision, I thought it would be a good idea to do some research and compare options first. My expertise is in computers and networking, and telephony systems are mostly foreign to me. What we currently have are 5 incoming POTS lines and 25

Ocfs and EMC Powerpath
A couple years ago, we moved to Oracle RAC on Linux using ocfs that is SAN attached to an EMC CLARiiON. At the time, there was a reason that we did NOT use EMC's Powerpath (I just can't recall what that reason was). What I'd like to know is if there are any issues with introducing Powerpath now. * RHEL 2.1 AS * 2.4.9-e.38enterprise * ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.13-1 * EMC

[LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
Hi Everyone, LLVM is a growing project, and many of us are very fond of it. :) LLVM is continuing to grow, both in maturity in specific areas and in scope of areas that it is applicable to. When we first started the project, we focused on the design of the intermediate representation. It is a strong design goal that the IR be a self-contained virtual instruction set, which fully describes

EMC CX4 Clariion
Hi, We had received a new EMC storage (Clariion CX4) and the EMC analist has told us that CentOS aren't on their support list, but RHEL are :) Well anybody on the list has a CentOS host talking (iSCSI) with an EMC storage, preferably using the EMC Powerpath software, and can talk about you experience? Or I will need to buy some REHL licenses ? I'll put my hands on it only next

CentOS and EMC PowerPath/Naviagent
Is anyone using CentOS 4.4 with an EMC Clariion SAN? In particular, I want to know if PowerPath and Naviagent will work on a CentOS 4 system connected to a san using Qlogic or Emulex cards. I tried a couple years ago with Fedora Core 1 or 2, and couldn't get the kernel modules from PowerPath to work since the kernel wasn't the official RHEL one. I'm most interested in

ext3 and 64 bit addressing
Dear List People: I am doing some comparisons of different fs's and need to know where ext3 stands in terms of 64 bit addressing. XFS and JFS claim to be full 64 bit systems (though are there not still kernel limitations that would, for the time being, reduce the ability to use a full 64 bits?), what about ext3??
