Example: ?rwxrwxrwt 1 falkenbe av 35638891 Jul 29 16:02 /vol04/pc_03/Deerberg/ctp_Deerberg/test07 after copying the file it really is a file !! -rwxrwxrwx 1 schoenhe av 35638891 Jul 29 16:00

Interesting zfs destroy failure
Saw this while writing a script today -- while debugging the script, I was ctrl-c-ing it a lot rather than wait for the zfs create / zfs set commands to complete. After doing so, my cleanup script failed to zfs destroy the new filesystem: root at kronos:/ # zfs destroy -f raid/www/user-testuser cannot unshare ''raid/www/user-testuser'': /raid/www/user-testuser: not shared root

separate home "partition"?
(i use the term loosely because i know that zfs likes whole volumes better) when installing ubuntu, i got in the habit of using a separate partition for my home directory so that my data and gnome settings would all remain intact when i reinstalled or upgraded. i''m running osol 2008.11 on an ultra 20, which has only two drives. i''ve got all my data located in my home directory,

X4500 device disconnect problem persists
After applying 125205-07 on two X4500 machines running Sol10U4 and removing "set sata:sata_func_enable = 0x5" from /etc/system to re-enable NCQ, I am again observing drive disconnect error messages. This in spite of the patch description which claims multiple fixes in this area: 6587133 repeated DMA command timeouts and device resets on x4500 6538627 x4500 message logs contain multiple

building xvm-3.4 gate on indiana
There seems to be no list of needed packages, when starting with a fresh opensolaris dev (b121 today). hg gmake I guessed by now. Additionally the stuff mentioned here: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/indiana/building_on/ But are there further packages needed? Maybe some one should add a verified list to the building howtos... Florian

Strange messages on 0.25.4.
Hi all. I am testing 0.25.4 to upgrade from 0.23.2. In testing, I found two strange messages on 0.25.4 which I have never found on 0.24.3. So could you tell me what these messages mean and how to fix them. [Environment] Puppetmasterd -version : 0.25.4 -OS : Solaris10 10/09 Puppetd -version : same as Puppetmasterd -OS : same as Puppetmasterd [Strange messages] 1.When Puppetd

Solaris 9 --with-krb5 problems
Hi, I am running configure with the option --with-krb5=/opt/local which is where I have heimdal installed. The problem is that after running make, it still tries to use the include files from SUN that are in /usr/ and this screws up the compile. I can compile samba just fine using --without-krb5. I have already tried: setenv CFLAGS "-L/opt/local/lib" setenv CPPFLAGS

pthreads problem when I run ./configure
I am trying to get icecast 2.0.1 to compile on a solaris express box but the configure fails with the error "configure: error: POSIX threads missing ". So I am unsure what to do as I have no back ground in compiling and have main stuck to the pre-packaged stuff, but my luck has run out on this one. Look on google for anything like this but came up with not alot, it could be some thing

/dev/random problem after moving to zfs boot:
I have one thing happening now at boot which must have happened during the migration to zfs boot. I get an error message about /dev/random: "No randomness provider enabled for /dev/random. Use cryptoadm to provide one." Does anyone know how to fix this? Another thing: Is it possible to upgrade to a higher build when using zfs boot? Is this what LiveUpgrade does? And is there a step by

Need help making lsof work with ZFS
I contacted the author of ''lsof'' regarding the missing ZFS support. The command works but fails to display any files that are opened by the process in a ZFS filesystem. He indicates that the required ZFS kernel structure definitions (header files) are not shipped with the OS. He further indicated that he rummaged through the OpenSolaris source tree and the files doesn''t

dovecot 2.0.2 compile issues on Solaris 10u8 Sparc
I am having compile problems with Dovecot v2.0.2 on a well patched Solaris 10u8 Sparc system using the included gcc compiler. Version 2.0.0 compiled with out any issues using the same configure syntax. My ./configure syntax looks like this: ./configure --with-ssl=openssl --with-shadow Yahoo and Google searches turned up nothing for me. Reviewing the file mountpoint.c between version 2.0.0
