problem with a repo
Hello, I've got rpmforge and epel on centos 5.3. I'm trying to do an install of perl-Image-Info for spamassassin image scanning. The package was picked up in rpmforge since first, but it is failing to install because a dependency is missing. I added perl-Image-Info to rpmforge's excludepkgs line and tried to install the package again this time thinking it would pull from epel. This

DebugInfo repo broken on purpose
This line in /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Debuginfo.repo baseurl=http://debuginfo.centos.org/$releasever/$basearch/ ?causes commands like ?yum search --enablerepo=* foo? to fail with the obscure error Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'base-debuginfo' Apparently this is because the debug info RPMs aren?t hosted there any more, per the page at the top of the site.

ansible: which repo?
What would you recommend: ansible is in EPEL8 and ConfigSIG. For the latter I do not see any sources in git.centos.org. Where they come from? I wonder with which repository I should use (long term)? dnf not checking gpg signature sounds scary: https://github.com/ansible/ansible/blob/v2.9.13/changelogs/CHANGELOG-v2.9.rst#security-fixes -- Leon

Recommended REPO Setup for Desktop on Cos5
CentOS is simply great. I use it as my main desktop. I use VMWare clients for any "special needs" software. I am struggling a bit with the plethora of repos and looking for some advice. Would you opine with detail on the best repo setup for a desktop CentOS 5? Comments: rpmforge provides fine rpms. kbsingh, google, adobe, kde-redhat, CentOS-Testing , CentOS-fastrack, epel,

Ping as regular user not allowed (CentOS Stream 8)
Following some update or the other (I think) on my CentOS Stream 8 system, I'm no longer able to use ping as a regular user; I get $ ping www.centos.org ping: socket: Operation not permitted Does anyone else see this? It it a bug, or were the system/default permissions deliberately changed? Can anyone suggest a fix/workaround? Actually, I can find several different ones via a simple web

Small correction in CentOSPlus (AdditionalResources/Repositories/CentOSPlus)
Hi, Small correction there. Example 4 of section 2 (how to use XFS with CentOSPlus kernel) says you should use this configuration line in [centosplus] section of yum: includepkgs=kernel* xfs* dmapi* However, the XFS module's package name is kmod-xfs*, so I believe it should actually be: includepkgs=kernel* kmod-xfs* xfs* dmapi* I did this on a system of mine, and in the first case it did

CentOS Stream 8 sssd.service failing part of sssd-common-2.8.1-1.el8.x86_64 baseos package
Hello everybody, A recent update of the sssd-common-2.8.1-1.el8.x86_64 package is causing sssd.service systemctl failures all over my CentosOS machines. What is the best way to report this issue and when can we expect an update from the sssd-common package for this regression bug? I think sssd-common is part of the baseos repository and installed even when the configuration file is not

how to reinit an own repo after adding files?
Please, could you share more information about this issue (the steps how to reproduce would be perfect)? There was a similar bug filed on Fedora/dnf but without reliable reporoducer yet - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1750152. Feel free to add a comment with the reproducer to this bug and re-open it or file a new one if your issue looks different. Marek -- Marek Blaha <mblaha at
