newby question: Is there a way to direct streams to a mount point?
Is there a way to direct icecast to associate a stream from a particular source to a designated mount point? I've got two different streams I'm encoding that I'd like to make available on the same server. Currently, I have one going to /icy_0 and the other to /icy_1. That's okay for the moment, but if either the server or the two encoders reboot, the streams might reconnect in

on-demand source as default mountpoint
Hi icecasters, Is there a way to attach a static file to a source client without using the /file subdirectory? What I'm trying to do is have a static file broadcasted on-demand via http://fooblah:8000/, but I can't uses ices (I think) since that just throws the file to the server without any sense of timing. If I use ices, listeners could tune in during the middle of the static file,

relaying and icecast stream
I could really use a hand. I need to relay an MP3 stream to a Darwin server. Would wget -O - http://picasso.astro.ufl.edu:8000/icy_0 | ices be a reasonable approach? Darwin uses icecast protocol. I don't want to transcode, just pull the stream and send it. Is there a better way? Right now I'm pulling the stream with WinAmp on Windows and resending with Oddcast, but quality sucks

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
I've gotten a request from another broadcasting partner to set up yet another streaming audio server. They would like to stream in both ogg and mp3 formats from off a single icecast machine. I have been searching through the archives and I have seen this mentioned as being possible, but no real configurations. I would of course place LAME on the box and use that for streaming just as I would

Re:Icecast with Winamp
I am using only WinAmp 2.x and 5.x It works in WinAmp2.x and 5.x at the college network (T1 line), but not at home with cable modem (even with firewall switched off). It tries to prebuffer over 20 minutes - 5 second burst of music and then quits with message (-2:-11). Again, no problem if using FOOBAR2000, but it would be nice to have it work in WinAmp. Multiple sources on one Icecast server
Hi all, I would like information on how best to implement a system with one Icecast server, and many sources. I know LiveIce allows you to specify different mount points for different streams, but I have not been able to figure out how you can achieve the same functionality using Shoutcast DSP Plugin. Please let me know if you've been able to have many sources stream to one icecast server

Admin question[s]
Hello, I'm brand new to this streaming stuff so please bear with me. I have installed and am running icecast 1.3.10, ices latest version: 0.0.1 beta5 and/or shout 0.8.0. No major problems with the exception of the clients like to drop off [and I see this problem posted before but didn't see any fix for it]. Btw... this is on Linux Slackware 7 operating system. My question is

RE: Greetings file played upon mount
I'm using icecast2 and ices2, and was wondering if it is possible to have a "greetings" file to be played (eg. Station ID) prior to listening to audio stream from playlist (where-ever position it is playing from).... I checked conf examples, but didn't see anything that stood out... Client Problems
Hi, I've attempted to set Up IceCast on my Computer (Win2000). I am streaming music from winamp using ShoutCast, which connects to my Icecast 'server?'... Icecast is Kicking anyone who connects, it says "no client", I've looked for help, but to no avail. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger:

suggestion: directory promotion to filesystem
Not sure how technically feasible it is, but something I thought of while shuffling some files around my home server. My poor understanding of ZFS internals is that the entire pool is effectivly a tree structure, with nodes either being data or metadata. Given that, couldnt ZFS just change a directory node to a filesystem with little effort, allowing me do everything ZFS does with filesystems on

Darkice Stream dispaying in Icecast Administration Page
Hello folks, when using Darkice to send a stream to an Icecast 1 server, the icecast administration page is not updated correctly. The mountpoint etc.. is all there, but the name of the darkice stream is not there. It has been replaced with the name of the default stream for the server. To ensure I had not overlooked anything, I had also tried the same thing with MuSE, and the same behaviour was

cron job failures with a perl script containing Astro::Time
Everyone, I am building a gateway server with a new : CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core)??with 3.10.0-514.2.2.el7.x86_64 kernel. Everything was going find, but I was not able to get a particular cronjob to function properly that contained a perl script with Astro::Time as an include file. Astro::Time was installed with the use of the cpan module downloaded from the Centos repositories. The
