NT4 Domain PDC with Ldap backend and domain members
Hi, thanks for your answer.
We are migrating on AD, but the legacy domain will stay for few a months. I still use samba 4.2 (before upgrading every file server).
I don't understand how winbind will be used. I don't need an ou=Idmap as user entry in uid=login already contains the association between uid and sambaSID in the openldap passdb backend (on the DC).
I just need the domain

Fwd: Migrating server
Hi Gruss,
At this stage there is only one server, running 3.6.25 on Ubuntu12.04. The
plan to get LDAP to work on this one. Then add the second server 4.x and
the promote it to BDC and then demote this one. Just a side info, we
didn't want to go tdbsam in both as I read it breaks the domain trust.
The domain names are real ones.
I ran the commands you suggested, nothing in reply. I tried

Smbldap tools blocks when using net rpc vampire to migrate accounts from the NT4 PDC to the SambaLdap BDC
Hello,
I am trying to migrate a NT4 PDC server to a linux PDC Samba3.0+openLDAP backend
I have followed all the instructions in the Samba manual "The Linux Samba-openLDAP How to V.1.6.
However my efforts are in vain when I have to use net rpc. It hangs up and I' m trying to find out why...
So.. Here is what I did:
[root@SERVRHAS smbldap-tools]# net rpc vampire -l -d 4 -S

Samba 3.2.4 not locking accounts?
Hello guys!
I'm using samba 3.2.4 (binaries from samba.org) on SLES9+sp3.
I am building a PDC with LDAP support (i am attaching my config files),
I'm also using ldapsam:trusted and ldapsam:editposix.
Although I am setting the account lock after 3 failed tries in usrmgr,
and verified that the parameters are actually set in the LDAP, no
locking occurs.
I started thinking that it was my

samba nad ldap
Hi everyone!
I have (i think) a fully functional tls enabled samba ldap server. I
used the documenation on www.idealx.org. I can make users and computers
with smbldap-tools but i can't add Windows computers to the domain in
the client end.
smbldap-useradd -w w-eddie
ldapsearch -x generates among other things:
# w-eddie$, Computers, dbb.su.se

Cannot join server to Samba4 NT4 domain
I have a Samba 4 NT4 PDC (Version 4.1.17-Debian) with openLDAP.
I would like to add another server, and have it authenticate users against openLDAP.
I thought I had to add the new server to the domain with "net rpc join", but that
seems to think I want to join an AD domain, and fails:
# net rpc join -U root%mypassword
No realm has been specified! Do you really want to join

Yes please for the notes.
I re-ran the tests without the smbldap-tools. I installed phpldapadmin and
am able to login to the apache page using the cn=admin, dn=mydomain and
create entries. This kind of tells me that LDAP is working
Then I run the pdbedit -Lv and it lists all the users.
The following happens when I add the LDAP bits to smb.conf and restart
samba. The issue seems to be with samba

Domain Administrators Not Recognized in Samba3
Hi,
I've been struggling with this for a while now, and i can't figure out
whats missing. I have a valid user, who is also a member of the "Domain
Admins" group. I can login with smbclient just fine, but administrative
rights aren't recognized when i try to join the domain. Group is
mapped to the proper SID and a matching POSIX group (just in case).
Backend is ldapsam.

Error setting initial password for a user when using LDAP as backend and trying to set Samba and Unix password to the same value
Hello,
i?ve some problems setting the initial password for Windows and Unix
User with Samba configured to use LDAP as backend.
I?ve attached the configuration files and the errors.
Creating a new user with net rpc user add "xyz" is working without
problem. Using for example GQ as LDAP browser, i can see the account and
also getent passwd is showing the entry. I?ve activated ldap
