Cannot access HOME folder after upgrading to 4.8 from 4.6
Hello- I upgraded Samba from 4.6 to 4.8 on a FreeBSD 11.2 server. After the upgrade, users cannot access the HOME folder share but they can access other shares just fine. I am using the RID backend on this member server that connects to Windows-based domain controllers. I apologize for the lengthy smb4.conf but here it is: #======================= Global Settings

High CPU load with multiple SMB processes with Yosemite clients
Hello Folks, We just moved our Samba file server from version 3.6.3 to 4.2.10 (the lastest updates for CentOS 7.2). Our Windows clients are working well, but we are unable to use it for our Mac clients (Yosemite). The clients are configured to use their home directories from this file server. Here's the config: [global] workgroup = BLAH.COM netbios name = FILESERVER

Samba + Netatalk troubles
I've got a file server running both Samba and Netatalk ([OT] which are two programs that dearly need to be rolled into one). I've *tried* to configure it to minimize problems between the two, but I've run into a problem where users can't delete folders that contain, e.g., .AppleDouble folders in them. When I try from smbclient, I get: NT_STATUS_DIRECTORY_NOT_EMPTY removing

Network Browsing
Hello, We use a Ricoh Aficio 3035 copier which has multiple functions- one of them is to scan to a folder via SMB/FTP/NFS. We've chosen to scan documents into PDF documents via SMB to user's shared folders on a Windows NT server for several years with no issues. About a year ago the user's folders location was changed to one on Windows 2003 Server also with no problems. Last week I

rsync not copy all information for font file
Hi Ram, In OS X, some font types (not all) put the font payload in the resource fork. Netatalk provides AFP filesharing, imitating the resource forks by creating secondary files in ?.Appledouble? folders within each folder. Netatalk tracks the resource forks, and other metadata, by keeping a ?Desktop database? at the root of the shared volume ? look for .AppleDesktop, and .AppleDB. You can

"username map" parameter not working after upgrade to SAMBA 3
I have been using the "username map" parameter for some time on various versions of Samba 2, and it has worked nicely. Last week I upgraded to Samba 3 and integrated with Active Directory. Since I am using Solaris 8, and "nsswitch.conf" doesn't support winbindd, I am using the "add user script" parameter to add users. What is happening is that users in
