Samba DC on 4.1.7 from sernet
Just updated a DC from 4.1.6 to 4.1.7. After the update, it appears to be unable to bind any listening ports with the error NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER_MIX. This is on CentOS 6.5, running samba 4.1.7 RPMs from sernet. Just as a test, I did a brand new samba-tool provision, and still get the same results when starting, so I don't think it's anything in my configuration, unless there

Upgrade From 4.0.16 To 4.0.17+ Breaks
G'day Guys, I've hit a snag. After using S4 from Alpha, beta, rc, 4.0.1..16 with success, I wanted to upgrade to the 4.1 series. However, after compiling, installing, and provisioning, with no errors, samba4 won't start correctly. I did a few tests by installing from scratch, on the same server each of the following versions (4.0.17, 4.0.18, 4.0.19, and 4.1.9), and got the same

LDAPS is not working
Hi, after a successfully migrating my NT4 with OpenLDAP to a Samba4 AD...I got a problem. Like in the sambawiki tutorial (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configuring_LDAP_over_SSL_(LDAPS)_on_a_Samba_AD_DC) I tried to configure LDAPS. I used the auto-configured certs. They are located in "/var/lib/samba/private/tls". My smb.conf: # Global parameters [global] netbios name = PDC

smb.service fails to start after openSUSE Tumbleweed update
Hai, Yes that is know. Enable and change the range to a, for you usable range, outside the current ranges. Example: idmap config * : backend = tdb idmap config * : range = 3000-7999 Now start samba and winbind. And posting you smb.conf really helps of analyze things like this. Samba 3.6.10 not reading groups
Helpp! :) We didn't catch this in testing and now it's killing me in production! I'm getting stuck with my fresh build of Samba 3.6.10. It isn't honoring groups specified in the valid users clause of the share configuration. I'm running in security = SHARE mode, and user authentication is working just fine. Even if I specify individual users on the valid users = line, it

smb.service fails to start after openSUSE Tumbleweed update
Hello!  I had working Samba installation on openSUSE Tumbleweed server.  I made my previous OS update a month ago, and everything worked fine after it.  But today I updated the OS again, and smb.service failed to start. Version 4.9.1-git.96.c3bff26bf16SUSE-oS15.5-x86_64 I tried many things: - minimal config - removed Samba package with all the dependencies and installed it again and so

streams_xattr & streams_depot
A couple of questions about the above: 1. In their respective man pages, both refer to "NTFS alternate data streams?, however they are not limited to just NTFS ADS are they? Other file systems may also use ADS (such as Mac OS?s various fs) 2. What is the essential differences and similarities between the two? From the man pages it appears that: - xattr has default prefix (which can be

Extended attributes not working on mac
I?m not sure if this is related, but there was a regression a while back in handling resource forks in folder icons. It was supposed to be fixed in 4.10.13 but I don?t think it quite works yet and I haven?t had the time to test it further yet. -Perttu > On 30 May 2020, at 21.00, Martin Steiner / 3MF GmbH via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > > I changed the configuration

Extended attributes not working on mac
I worked with Netatalk for years and want to switch to Samba now. Currently i use Ubuntu 20.04. and Debian 9 before, i had no issues with netatalk at all. As soon as i try to add a color tag (e.g. yellow) with Mac OS 10.15.5, the tag appears shortly but hides one second later. The file system is ZFS with no special options configured. I tried the Ubuntu package but also the builds from source

vs_fruit - can't write to share
Hi, i'm running Samba 4.2.1 compiled from source on an Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Server. ACL/XATTR is active and working. I tried to activate the vfs_fruite module and added the sample code: vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:resource = file fruit:metadata = netatalk fruit:locking = netatalk fruit:encoding = native to the share. In addition i tried the following share definition: vfs

Extended attributes not working on mac
I changed the configuration and raised the log level, in my opion samba tries to access the non existent double files. Samba is now probably writing the data in a netatalk compliant way in the extended attributes of the file but is not reading it. new configuration: [Global] min protocol = SMB2 vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:metadata = stream fruit:resource = stream fruit:encoding

vs_fruit - can't write to share
I must reply to my own post. Changing the fruit:locking to "none" results in a working share. Netatalk 3.1.6 is installed and from the information of the changelog Netatalk 3.1.7 doesn't change anything to the file locking (except if you're using Solaris). Am 25. File permissions change after implementing vfs_fruit
Hi, I previously had an issue that was fixed by implementing vfs_fruit. For reference: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-April/199583.html <https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-April/199583.html> I’m running Samba 4.2.11 on FreeBSD 10.0 release and our shares are on ZFS. Our macs are on OS X 10.11.4. What I had previously was this: vfs objects = zfsacl Which I then
