LDAP SSL
Hi Rowland, Fair comment. This is not a new domain and we are migrating to AD. The box in question runs Samba 3.6 (PDC and a physical box) and as such we are not able to directly migrate it. We are adding a Samba 4 box (a VM) , to which will become the new PDC . This box will then be used to migrate to AD. The Samba 3 box will converted as a file server. The confusion in smb.conf is possibly

Can't access samba because "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID"
Thanks Rowland, I didn't think i was doing all of this in an outdated way (it really makes sense, as much of the tutorials i've followed come from before 2010 and there's barely no recent tutorials regarding these issues). So i'm gonna follow your suggestion. However, how can i deal with the LDAP server? This base is big and it's a mandatory feature i need to implement on

Convert from NT style Domain to AD on Ubuntu 18.04
I have a small installation which includes 2 servers one is the PDC which handles logins and stores profiles.and also handles email and some minor Apache stuff. There is also a member server which handles most of the file sharing. These servers have been in service since around 2006 running Ubuntu but are on their third motherboards, third set of drives and their 6th LTS version of Ubuntu.

accessing foreign AD users to NT domain
Hi all, I'm planning to migrate a NT domain to a AD domain. Someone suggested me to create a new AD domain, then add manually users to AD with the same username and password of the NT domain and then join every PC to the new AD domain. This way the migration should be flawlessly because in a windows network a user can works on foreign resources (resources that are shared from server
