Samba 4.8.3 out of memory error
Our domain controllers have run samba 4.4.3 since it was released. We didn't upgrade because it was so stable :) I recently decided that release was too old and upgraded to 4.8.2 (then current). Our domain controllers were crashing on 4.8.2 so I upgraded to 4.8.3 as soon as it was released but this has not resolved the issue. When the issue occurs the DC becomes unresponsive and needs to be

Unable to fetch value for secret BCKUPKEY_, are we an undetected RODC?
I upgraded from 4.1.23 to 4.2.12 and am now getting (lots of) messages: Unable to fetch value for secret BCKUPKEY_, are we an undetected RODC? I found an almost identical message (titled: "Update samba4 from 4.1.17 to 4.2.1 failed") on the web from May 22, 2015 at: http://samba.2283325.n4.nabble.com/Update-samba4-from-4-1-17-to-4-2-1-failed-td4686215.html but saw no resolution other

Unable to fetch value for secret BCKUPKEY_, are we an undetected RODC?
If it is that bug that you're referencing, besides obviously upgrading, you could try to patch it yourself. Whether or not you need to patch this, probably depends on whether or not your users are actually seeing issues. All that seems to happen is that it's entering a failure case when it hasn't actually failed. https://www.samba.org/samba/patches/ Cheers, Garming On 04/07/16

Unable to fetch value for secret BCKUPKEY_, are we an undetected RODC?
Garming - thanks for your quick response. That link you gave me has Samba 3.x patches. I didn't notice any links to 4.x patches. Official Distro Releases are often behind the current stable release, generally. In fact, when I first installed Samba4 the Linux version was more recent than the Ubuntu version. This lag is probably due to abundance of caution and/or lack of manpower. I

Join Samba without GC role
I created test environment: 1 root domain, 2 subdomain. I created about 250000 user accounts in subdomain 2 (sub2.company.com) ntds.dit 14gb. Joining samba in first subdomain (sub1) was without problem. But in production environment (with a lot of domains and objects) python process was hung with 100% CPU (after 6 hour we killed hung process). Why can this happened? This is samba subdomain

Join Samba without GC role
It's strange. We have root domain and a lot subdomain. We try to join Samba to one of subdomain. Active Directory DB (NTDS.dit) without GC = 1.2 Gb, with GC=16 Gb. When we try to join Samba we have samba DB limit 4Gb. We see that samba replicate information about all domains in forest: descriptor_sd_propagation_recursive: DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=domain1,DC=oao,DC=company not found under

Asterisk with Draytek 2600V
I am unable to get a my Draytek working with our Asterisk server. I can make/recieve calls but get no audio. I have tried the various codecs at the Vigor end but still getting nothing. I looked at sip debug (below) but am new to Asterisk and don't really know what I am looking for. Asterisk works fine with XLITE so I know my installation is ok. Sip read: INVITE

TrippLite SmartPro UPS and nut-2.0.2
I have a TrippLite SmartPro UP (SMART3000RM2U) that shipped with the DB9 cable# 73-0866. nut doesn't recognize the UPS using the tripplite driver. I found this page: http://www.tripplite.com/support/download/PA12/help/device.htm The link lists the SmartPro series as using the cables 73-0724 or 73-0844 and the Internet 350/525 is listed as using a cable 73-0866. G.729 on /dev/sda
I've just setup a new asterisk server, and I need to have G.729 working on this system. The problem is I don't have any IDE drives (and therefore no /dev/hda etc), but only /dev/sda.   Is there really *no* way to license G.729 on a SCSI-only system? IMHO it's really stupid to replace an entire server because of a licensing issue. There *must* be a solution.   Anyone, please? Or at

R: Hyperthreading?
That's the problem we had with Asterisk and HT on a 2.4 Kernel: whenever Asterisk was staying in the RTP stream, and HT was enabled (on a Dell Dual Xeon system), we had choppy audio. After disabling HT, everything was fine again. Nothing measurable, indeed, but you could definitely hear it. So there *must* be something. -Manuel -----Messaggio originale----- Da: Peter Corlett

cdr_addon_mysql compiling error
I'm trying to compile cdr_addon_mysql but keep getting this error. Again, searching the Wiki and the mailing list archive didn't bring up anything useful. Any help? Yes, I'm using MySQL 4.0. Maybe I have to switch back to 3.23? # make cc -fPIC -I../asterisk -D_GNU_SOURCE -I/usr/include/mysql -c -o cdr_addon_mysql.o cdr_addon_mysql.c cdr_addon_mysql.c:50: warning: parameter names

Ringinbacktone even without 'r', and inexistant codec
I am trying to make an Inalp Smartnode 1200 (SIP-to-ISDN gateway) work with Asterisk. It works ... Partially. We are using the Inalp to connect ISDN phones, it basically acts like an ISDN ATA. First of all, when I make a SIP call to the unit with a simple Dial() command (no "r", so Asterisk shouldn't generate its ringback tone) I hear Asterisk's ringback tone anyway (I'm

Thousands of contexts?
By reading the Wiki's I found out that an Asterisk server with many (>10000) extensions and/or SIP users can become slow when reloading. But what happens when you also have many contexts in extensions.conf? More precisely, one context for each SIP user? I need this because I will have users with random usernames that they can choose, but I obviously cannot set that username as the outgoing

How to force G729
We want some of our users to use G729, and some others to use ULAW. Our PSTN gateway provider supports both, so that's not a problem, and if I force him (the PSTN gateway) to allow G729 only, the outgoing call will take place with G729. The problem is that I want to have my PSTN provider configured to allow ULAW as a first priority, then G729. I did it like that: [mypstngate] type=friend
