Odd Roaming Profile behaviour from a Samba PDC
Hey All.. I've been trying to track down the source of this problem for some time now and am hoping that someone may have seen this in the past... I picked up a system that has Samba V. 2.2.8a, acting as a PDC and serving roaming profiles to Two Windows 2K Terminal Servers running SP4. However, as a user attempts to login for the first time, the PDC authenticates the user and attempts to

Re-2: SOLVED - idmap_rid / roaming profile permissions /NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEM
because the same samba fileserver will also have the home directories for linux users! According to the smb.conf man pages, the value auto will corretcly apply case insensitivity for windows users, and case sensitive for the linux users. Of course I don't know what will happen if a linux user creates two files with the same name and different case, and then logs in from a windows

Samba AD and roaming profile permissions
I'm running Samba 4.7.0 on FreeNAS 11.1-U2. It's configured as an Active Directory Domain Controller, and I'm trying to configure roaming profiles. I've created a profile dataset in ZFS that uses Windows permissions. I've configured the share and file system permissions as described in the "Using Windows ACLs" section of:

Windows Vista roaming profiles "access denied" forced local profile (samba PDC), but Windows XP OK
Hello, I'm having an "Access denied" issue using roaming profiles for Windows Vista Ultimate RTM (patched to current). The actual login is successful, the full name is set properly and the password is handled correctly, however only a temporary profile is created. The interesting thing is that all else being the same, I do not encounter the same issue for Windows XP roaming

WINXP Profiles
I have a problem with samba 2.2.7a which is configured as a PDC for two Windows XP Profesional workstations. I'am working with roaming profiles for the winxp machines. My problem is, when I reboot a winxp machine my roaming profile becomes a local profile. When I don't reboot the winxp machine roaming stays roaming. This is my smb.conf configuration. The linux machine is a ConnecTUX

XP roaming profile problem (access denied)
Hi! I was hoping someone had seen this problem, and might be able to help me out with it; I've tried the suggestions I found in the mailing lists and on web sites, to no avail. I'm running samba 3.0.2 on RHEL 3, and XP clients seem to occasionally have problems saving the roaming profile, resulting in error messages and the use of the local profile. The problem is when renaming

Roaming profile permissions questions
Hello, I would like to host our Terminal Services and Roaming Profiles on a Samba 3.0.2 server. I am able to have profiles created correctly for any user except those who are listed as 'admin users' - currently our Domain Admins group as '@DOMAIN-Domain Admins'. What happens is that a profile is created with the actual owner as root and an ACL entry for the actual user. For

Samba 3.4.7-0.2, Windows 7, roaming profile issues
After update from 3.0 to 3.4.7 roaming profiles were not being saved on XP. Disabled ipv6 on our Samba server (some update must have re-enabled it) and rebooted. Now profiles on XP seem to be working OK again. Not so for Windows 7. This is a newly set up Windows 7 machine, registry fixes were applied as indicated here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 was able to join domain, and
