disable imap for ldap user
hi there,
I have a LDAP dir with an attribute set to 0 or 1 and in my old setup
(a courier server) I used this attribute to map it to an authoption
called disableimap. This prevent users to access the mailbox with imap
protocol.
So the question is what should I set in dovecot to get the same
behaviour? I looked at the docs but the part with the pass_ilter and
service doesn't really

disable imap for ldap user
no this is not the intented behaviour for thsi attribute.
In general every user can use pop3 but only a few can use imap so what I
want is:
- permit pop3 by default
- check if the attribute is 0 or 1
- depending on the result a user can login with imap protocol
regards

dovecot 2.2.28 password auth with openldap
Hi there,
I desperatly trying to store a BLF-CRYPT password hash in an LDAP
userPassword Attribute and get dovecot to authenticate against it.
I use a thunderbird as client and send the password plain with starttls.
what worked so far but is kinda problematic for my smtp authenticaton
was to store the has with the prefix {CRYPT} or {BLF-CRYPT}.
Is there a way to get dovecot to authenticate

winbind, idmap_ad and ldaps
Hello from Germany,
I have a problem with the following constellation:
A Samba-Fileserver - Samba 3.5.6 - running in a Windows AD as a member server using idmap_ad for the mapping the User-IDs. This all works fine as long as the LDAP-port 389 is available on the domain controllers. Now, our AD admin wants to close this and move over to LDAPS. And here is my problem. How do I configure my Samba

LDA vs maildrop... LDA *and* maildrop?
We're considering a move from Courier to Dovecot.? So far, looks like
it's not too bad, but the most challenging obstacle is what to do about
our local delivery.? Factors:
1. we use a lot of maildrop "features" that are impossible in sieve
without piping to an external program (would rather not re-write our
working maildrop scripts in another language)
2. would love to try

maildrop index update
Hi,
I?m using a multi-storage architecture in my email environment and
maildrop as deliver command at mta. But to this deliver the mx servers
mount nfs partitions - we need to use maildrop because many patches we
inserted.
How can I insert a piece of code at maildrop allowing it to update the
dovecot indexes (which lib and/or function from dovecot I need to use ?)
Best Regards,
Fernando

vpopmail, maildrop, courier-authlib combo
Hello,
I was wondering if I could post in the Howto section how one can make
use of the vpopmail virtual mail system on Centos 4 and integrate it
into other parts of Centos 4 along with some helper tools. Of course if
the information is accepted but in a different section that is fine.

Maildrop script to sieve
Hi,
I'm working on a system that have about 350K e-mail users and 100k users
that uses maildrop scripts to make filters on their delivery. So,
changing scripts by hand can't be a choice. I "googled" so much and I
wasn't able to find any script that converts maildrop scripts to sieve.
Does anyone knows where can I find it?
By the way, does anyone uses dovecot-1.1-beta on a

Postfix+maildrop+deliver?
Hello,
I currently use procmail without the deliver LDA but would like to switch to
using deliver. I also would like to get away from procmail for various
reasons. Otherwise I could use the procmail-patch from
http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2006-July/014656.html
AFAICS.
I don't want to use sieve because it's too limited and can't see a similar
patch like the one for

Dovecot auth user lookup patch updated for maildrop 2.1.0
Hi,
an updated version of my patch for maildrop that extends it with the ability
to perform user lookups against Dovecot's database made against the latest
version of maildrop 2.1.0 can be downloaded from the following location:
http://www.max.rs/ozone/maildrop-2.1.0-dovecotauth.patch.txt
The patch has just been redone in order to apply cleanly without fuzz and to
apply properly against

Update Dovecot index files on maildrop delivery?
Hi all,
is there some easy way to inform Dovecot about a new delivery, which has
happened after postfix invoked maildrop, so the index files would be updated?

maildrop and multi-dbox
Hi there,
I'm using Dovecot 2.0.9-1 under Arch Linux.
Currently, I have Maildir configured, and I move all my emails into
dovecot by using this sequence:
1) cron starts fetchmail periodically under user manfred to collect my
mails from various email accounts.
2) In ~/.fetchmailrc I have configured /usr/bin/maildrop as MDA.
3) In ~/.mailfilter (used by maildrop) I have extensive filtering in

Calling dovecot-lda from maildrop/shell
Hello,
I want to make final delivery for some of my mailboxes using
dovecot-lda, since I'm interested in using sieve. My usual MDA which is
called from postfix is and will be maildrop.
First try was to call dovecot-lda from command line:
/usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-lda -d spam at xgm.de < testmail
which gave return code 75 (EX_TEMPFAIL) and logged:
dovecot: auth-worker(3533):
