Cannot share folders access denid PDC+LDAP.
Hi mathias, thanks for taking time to see this issue.
In my case is not a AD, is still a NT4 style.
I will try the option, thanks.

Hi people.
I'm using Centos 4.5 running samba 3.0.x, i have a old ERP software that

Fast searching from android device with Dovecot/Maildir
Hello,
I am using dovecot as an imap server, mail is stored in mail directories.
Configuration is below.
One mail directory has about 14 Gb of mail in the inbox and .Sent
directories.
Searching from an Android phone with gmail is slow or doesn't work (it
times out).
Is there a configuration for Dovecot that can improve this? A better
e-mail client
for Android?
Thanks,
John

WINE, PERVASIVE and ODBC
I have a proprietary piece of software written for a windows machine. When
I run the ODBC interface so that I can set a DSN the connection works.
However, when I run the program it cannot find the files and gives me an
error stating that.
Does anyone have experience with Pervasive DB's? Or maybe with getting
programs like this one running under WINE?
Thank you

Issues with print command group membership
Hi,
I have a Samba print share set up, with a "print command" specified
that just cats the file to /dev/ulpt0. This share is accessed by the
guest Samba account, which I have set to be the 'smbguest' username.
I can manually run the print command as root, and the file prints.
I can manually run the print command as 'smbguest' (through sudo) and
the file prints.

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I am new to Samba, but not to Linux. I hope someone here can point me in the
right direction.
I have installed Samba and it appears to be working, at least as far as I have
tested it. However, I have hit a snag in my testing. I have searched Google for
several hours but I have not found a solution.
On a Linux machine (named "annwn") running Fedora Core 6, I have set up a share,

rsync --owner=myaccount
Hello Community ,
We will be using rsync to keep data flowing from a data-collection
computer (data belongs to user "det") to a data-processing
computer where the data is to be owned by whichever
account is doing the experiment.
I would like to run rsync and be able to specify the target
UID/GID to use on the command line.
For security reasons, the user doing data processing

rsync-3.1.0 bug in cmdline parsing for option --usermap and --groupmap
Hello!
I think there is a small bug in cmdline parsing for option usermap and
groupmap. If you give multiple mappings to --usermap or --groupmap, only
the first one is used.
Example: rsync -a --usermap=userA:userB,userC:userD <src> <dst>
-> Only the user mapping for userA to userB is used, the second mapping is
ignored.
The attached patch fixed the problem for me.

Does automatic printer driver download from Win 2k client work?
Hi,
I am playing around with automatic printer driver download to Windows
2000 clients from Samba 2.2.8a-1 which doesn't seem to work. Whenever I
right-click on the printer and say "connect", it displays:
The server on which the printer resides does not have the correct
printer driver installed.....
Here is my smb.conf file:

workgroup = DEBIAN_FANS
load printers = yes

This command is incorrect: the -e option needs a command.

Problems with force (user|group) and XP Professional?
Hi all,
In continuing of previous problems, I've noticed some potential problems
with force user / force group and Windows XP Professional.
I'm not exactly sure why or how, but it appears that XP picks up the fact
that it's being connected as the forced user (smbguest), and continues
trying to authenticate to other services/shares as that user (smbugest).
I'm not sure if this

Delete glitch?
Hey, everyone.
I'm running Samba 2.2.8a on a Debian Linux 3.0 box and for some reason, when
someone tries to delete something they can't, it does give them the access
denied message the first time. When they try to do it again, no message
appears and it seems to be deleted (it disappears from the list), but when
they refresh the list, it appears again.
My file system is as follows

I am using rsync between a BSD/OS system and a Linux system.
On the BSD system, the user/group is www.www. On the Linux
system the user/group is apache.apache. I have not yet
found a way to get rsync to change www.www on the source
system to apache.apache on the target system.
Does anybody know a way of doing this with rsync. I currently

ntfs user mappings?
I have linux machines joined to my AD domain using winbind.
I have windows pro machines joined to AD normally
I would like it so that when I user writes to an ntfs removable disk
That when I mount it on my linux machines it follows the permissions.
Is that possible?
I use ntfs-3g to mount the partition. I see there is a command
ntf3-3g.usermap and wonder if that might work.
Is there a command like

Share w/o ask a login
If I wanna make my users connect to a share or printer without providing a
log and password, how I do that?
I can create a account on the samba server for all my users, but I
dont wanna do that, I wanna give them access to the shares even if they
put the wrong password, or use a login who isnt in the /etc/passwd of the
samba server.
Some idea?
Thanks!

solution to domain reboot problem
Hey,
I had a problem with rebooting XP and joining the samba domain, which was
controlled by my gentoo linux box. I worked for days
for a solution, and found it....!!!!
The problem was that I could join the domain fine, but had to reboot, and then
found i was rejected from joining then. It appeared like the domain was
invisible to the XP box.
I pulled my hair out, scoured the web
