What is/provides php-pear(PEAR)
I am running up against a less than helpful error message when trying to
install php-pear-DB (why people cannot content themselves with all
lowercase packages names escapes me, but that is a rant for another time
and place). After enableing centos-plus and adding includepkgs=php-pear-DB
I get this:
# yum install php-pear-DB

perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.35-1.el5.rf.noarch from rpmforge: dependency problem
Hi folks,
I hope this is the right mailing list to ask since on the repoforge
website there is no list or contact information.
I have a problem with updating the perl-Nagios-Plugin package. I have
installed perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.33-1.el6.rf.noarch, and running yum
update leads to:

php-pear missing from 5.8 (i386) metadata?
Hi,
# yum install php-pear
<snip>
No package php-pear available.
Nothing to do
This is on CentOS 5.8 (i386). The package is available for both archs on
the two mirrors I checked. I also tried a
# yum clean headers
# yum clean metadata
# yum clean dbcache
to no avail. Am I missing something or is it the metadata?
Regards,
Leonard.

Centos 6.4 - yum update gives: Error: kernel conflicts with bfa-firmware
On trying a yum update I get the following error:
Error: kernel conflicts with bfa-firmware
yum suggests I work around the problem with --skip-broken or try running
'rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest'
Is there an accepted process for resolving this?

Centos 7 and php 5.5
I am hoping that the wisdom of the group here can at least point me in
the right direction.
I have a Centos7 server that I need to upgrade php from 5.4 to 5.5. I've
tried several tutorials to add the remi repository and enable php55, but
I always end up at the same result:
Error: Package: php-5.5.38-1.el6.remi.x86_64 (remi-php55)

Runaway rpm process?
CentOS-6.4_x86_64
I have a KVM virtual machine (several actually) which acts as a warm
spare for another kvm instance running on a different physical host.
Each hour it backs up the live system using rsync. This morning I
discovered that the backup instance was running at 99% utilisation and
that the process consuming the entire virtual cpu was this:
sh -c rpm -q -a --queryformat

head scratcher update
perhaps my mind isn't working today.
I'm trying to update a system that hasn't been updated in a while which
I believe is CentOS 5.2 but it's possible that it's 5.1. I am pretty
sure that it has php installed from CentOS-Extras and when I do yum
update, it's stumbling on php

pear
Hi,
is it safe to install additional modules to pear with "pear install"? I
need php-pear-MDB2 which is in CentosPlus but does not contain
php-pear-MDB2_Driver_xxx. So I did:
yum install php-pear-MDB2
pear upgrade MDB2
pear install MDB2#mysql

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use
bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent
package from Dag's repository. I have configured
/etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus:
[dag]
name=Dag Wieers RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
#Also see URL http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/
