Fwd: Centos 6 AMI does not support c4-8xlarge
I have yet to try this but I believe you can take a snapshot of the image after it is first installed. Then attach the snapshot to another VM and copy the data to a new volume. That new volume could then be used to create another AMI that you can deploy as you see fit. Fwd: Centos 6 AMI does not support c4-8xlarge
I have done that, but the point of the request is that we would like to have an official upstream AMI that we can use as the basis for our work. I'm guessing that the reason for the blacked out instance type is that early 6.x kernels didn't have the patches necessary to support 36 vCPU's present in the c4.8xlarge instance. Fwd: Centos 6 AMI does not support c4-8xlarge
One of the things suboptimal with Marketplace images is that the author can limit which instance types are allowed with the AMI and there is no way to override that. We are using Centos 6.8 for our deployments, but we need to move to the c4.8xlarge type, but that is not a permitted option for the "CentOS 6 (x86_64) - with Updates HVM" AMI. Is there any way we could get that image

Centos 6.9 AWS Images and c4-8xlarge
I asked back in September: https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2016-September/005219.html and again in November: https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2016-November/005257.html about getting c4.8xlarge enabled for the official image in AWS Marketplace: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00NQAYLWO?ref=cns_srchrow Now that the 6.9 release is coming, it would be

Centos 6.9 AWS Images and c4-8xlarge
Initial testing shows that AMI to work with c4.8xlarge. We have very few resources in us-east-1, so I'm creating a snapshot then copying that to us-west-2 for further testing. Hi, Thank you for taking a look at this. This is 13.10. I realize Saucy is no longer supported. This system is slated for replacement, but in the meantime I'm responsible for it. The repo version of nut was 2.6.4-2.3ubuntu2. Installing it was useful as it gave me the nut user and group. The compiled version errors out whether or not the repo version is installed. I just did strace.

printing ISO/8859-1 characters
Hi, I ran into an odd problem with the print command for R-2.0 on a windows machine. The icelandic character thorn (??,??) which is included in in the Latin-1 character set [iso/8859-1 char# 222 (upper case) and #254 (lower case)] prints out incorrectly. Instead of getting the correct character I get the octal codes for upper and lower case thorn (\336 or \376). This only happens on a windows

working with ordinal predictor variables?
I would consider this is a question for a statistics forum such as stats.stackexchange.com, not R-help, which is about R programming. They do sometimes intersect, as here, but I think you need to *understand what you're doing* before you write the R code to do it. Obviously, IMO. Cheers, Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with having an open mind is that people keep coming along and

Checking formulae: are lower order terms included
Dear all, I have a very rudimental function which takes a vector of terms and returns a list of all possible models which can be made using the given terms. For example for the set c("1", "x", "y", "x:y") I'd get: ~ 1 ~ x ~ y ~ x:y ~ 1 + x ~ 1 + y ~ 1 + x:y ~ x + y ~ x + x:y ~ y + x:y ~ 1 + x + y ~ 1 + x + x:y ~ 1 + y + x:y ~ x + y + x:y ~ 1 + x + y +

Oops... changing that to --with-user=nut solved one problem. I have the driver, upsd and upsmon running now. Thank you! Now I'm back to another issue, every 2 seconds I get in the logs: May 3 13:45:23 myhost upsd[2587]: Connected to UPS [eaton]: usbhid-ups-eaton It seems happy to do this forever. Grim Fandango in wine
Hey all, It's a thorn in my side, I had monkey island 3 running in wine, but this one just doesn't cooperate. The setup program exits with a problem copying install files (error 112, if it means anything). If anyone has got it working, let me know. Thanks

Lazy evaluation in function call
Hi everybody, how is it possible to refer to an argument passed to a function in the function call? What I like to do, is something like f <- function(x,y) x+y f(2, x) # should give 4 The problem is of course that x is only known inside the function. Of course I could specify something like f(z<-2,z) but I'm just curious whether it is possible to use a fancy combination of eval,

dovecot-lda and vpopmail
I'm setting up a new box with Dovecot 1.0 beta1 and vpopmail. Normal operations works like a charm, i.e. vpopmail virtual can log in sucessfully using TLS. However, when trying to test dovecot-lda out of CVS, it is not locating the user: > *** Starting dovecot-imapd service... > dovecot: Info: Dovecot v1.0.beta1 starting up > dovecot: Info: auth(default): master in: USER 1

Deliverm, vpopmail, and valias
I'm in the final stages of testing my e-mail server to come and I seem to have hit a roadblock. One option of current vpopmail is to store all aliases in a valias table, that looks like this: +-------------+----------+------+-----+---------+-------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-------------+----------+------+-----+---------+-------+ | alias | char(32) |

Sorry, I'll gzip/attach next time. I tried pollonly and made sure no processes were hanging out. While everything comes up and seems to run happy, I still get log messages every couple of seconds, and "upsc eaton" gives me one of two messages: Error: Driver not connected ups.status: WAIT Is this actually functional? Usually I don't consider NUT operational until upsc works

predict.lm[e] with formula passed as a variable
Dear all, In a function I paste a string and convert it to a formula which I pass to lm[e]. The idea is to write a function which takes the name of the response variable and the explanatory variable and the data frame as an argument and calculates an lm[e]. (see example below) This works fine, but if I want to make a prediction on this model, R complains that the object holding the formula
