Question: USB Scanner Epson Perfection 1260 not working
Hi, just got an Epson Perfection 1260 scanner which is supported according to sane, but decides not to scan, even though the lamp is switched on and the stepper motor makes one step, if scanimage is started. sane-find-scanner says: found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x011d) at /dev/uscanner0 scanimage -L says: device `plustek:/dev/uscanner0' is a Epson Perfection 1260/Photo USB

Wine and twain
Hi, I haven't seen recent information on wine and twain. I am trying to test a Finereader Office (version 5) with an USB scanner. Everything seems working. But I get scanner not ready when searching for scanner. Sane, gimp or whatever are working well with my scanner. Doing WINEDEBUG=+loaddll wine finereader.exe I get: ... trace:loaddll:load_dll Loaded module L"C:\\program files\\abbyy

USB scanner setup: questions, problems
Hi, I have a small home LAN consisting of four PC's: one old Pentium III box acting as gateway / connection handler / printer server / file server / scanner server, and then one desktop and two laptops. I recently migrated this LAN from Slackware 10.2 to CentOS 4.3, and everything runs rather fine. One thing I have some trouble setting up is my Canon Perfection USB scanner for network use,

On the way towards scanning - further hints?
I have an USB scanner which is working well and has been long supported in Linux now (Agfa Snapscan 1212U). But I can't get scanning to work in Wine, where I have installed three applications which should be able to scan (and which are running fine otherwise): ABBYY FineReader 7.0 (OCR) Irfanview 4.10 (image viewer) Photoshop CS (of course, Photoshop). In Photoshop's dialogue

Problems getting scanner to work from xsane (from Gnome Menu or GIMP)
We have a networked HP OfficeJet All-In-One. I have the scanner working with the CentOS 5.3, except xsane is ignoring SANE_DEFAULT_DEVICE. scanimage does however take this environment variable just fine: server1.wendellfreelibrary.org% scanimage -L No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the

winetools rpm for Mandrake (test phase)
Hi, I just proposed a binary rpm for Mandrake (in a testing phase among Mandrake Club). I put most of winetools stuff into /usr/share/winetools/2.1.1jo/ like for Debian. Po files are still in the binary installation to encourage translations but they will be suppressed by Mandrake people if in contribs. I included my proposition of fr.po (already sent to the list) in the binary. Xdialog binary

installing finereader
Hi, plear bear in mind that I'm completely new to wine. I've read in the database that some people got FineReader 5.0 professional running under wine. How do I install it from a CD? I've tried to run wine /cdrom/install.exe which opens a full screen window but then hangs - the mouse operates only on the window decoration. I've used the cvs-version of wine. Many thanks for a

CentOS: scanning
Hi! I've been using v.-4.4 since last Oct, and I'm quite satisfied, *except* for *one* thing: I can't scan! Both kooka and xsane report "no devices available." That doesn't affect printing, but every time I have to scan something, I've to go back to Mandriva or Ubuntu. I've had this HP psc-2410 for a couple of years. I scanned successfully with Fedora

Fine Objects: Invalid command line - ERROR
Since trying to install ABBYY Finereader (and failing) I keep getting the message Fine objects Invalid command line each time I try to start a program with wine. Once I click the message away it takes about a minute before the program starts. I upgrade to the latest wine 1.3.7 and that doesn't make any difference. I uninstalled wine and re-installed it , but to no avail. Any help is

Canon PIXMA mg5420 or HP Photo Smart 7520
In need of a new printer, having done a bit or research, and considering either the Canon PIXMA mg5420 or the HP Photo Smart 7520. There are Linux drivers for the Photosmart which are supposed to handle both the printer and the scanner. But in my research I haven't found (yet) anyone who's gotten the scanner to work with Linux on the Photosmart, let alone the sheet feeder for it.
