Will syslinux UEFI boot the RHEL7.0 kernel (3.10.0-123.el7.x86_64) ?
All, Is syslinux 6.03 able to UEFI boot the RHEL7.0 Linux kernel? I'm trying & failing to do this. I haven't UEFI-booted RHEL7.0 kernel via syslinux before. (But I have UEFI pxelinux booted Fedora 20, which is approximately RHEL7.0.) I remember HPA mentioned that older Linux kernels required "UEFI boot assist", something that GRUB2 offers but syslinux does not. And

UEFI PXE / split config / TFTP attempted to DHCP server, not TFTP server
All, I realize this is not strictly a PXELINUX question. So I hope you'll indulge me; hopefully some of these PXELINUX experts have seen this before. And can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Or confirm my suspicions. I have a test lab server at work. Split config. The network team manages the DHCP servers, points to our TFTP server. Test subnet has 3 DHCP pools. BIOS PXE, UEFI PXE and

stuck in pxe loop from uefi + tianocore/ovmf
Hello all, hope all is well Was wondering if I'm doing something wrong/missing something. I have pxe+tftp+uefi working between 2 vms. However after the build is done and I reboot, I still come up to pxe b/c tianocore always starts, from what I've seen, with trying PXE first. Great for initial builds :) but I would like to it stop after. In the xml I am pointing to the disk to boot first.

Gene, All good questions. Thanks for taking time to respond. You've given me great leads to follow up w/ DHCP appliance consultant. >filename being file. uefi built from tiancore via edk2 can't persist boot changes
Apologies if this has been gone over, but I believe I have checked the intertubes more than a bit..... I am using libvirt and have vms booting under an OVMF.fd to use an efi firmware. I can create vms, linux ubuntu, and they will boot up. However, everytime I reboot am I dropped into the default efi shell provide by the tianocore build. Then I must walk the FS to the booting efi app and run, in

Thanks VERY MUCH for all the info and help! Apologies for the extreme delay. I got distracted by other threads that forced out this work to later date. Also some frustration as well. ;) I completely missed this update. Apologies and thanks Will be diving back into this shortly! [PATCH 0/2] uefi: Add new locations for UEFI files on Fedora.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1338083 Now that UEFI is fully open source the UEFI firmware can be included in Fedora. The location will be slightly different. These patches do a bit of code rearrangement and add the new paths. Rich.

pxelinux.0 not fully booting in EFI 64 mode...not requesting ldlinux.e64 via TFTP...
All, I was excited to hear about EFI boot support in pxelinux >= 6.00. So I tried it. Not working. I've tried 6.02 (from source), 6.02 (from RPM), early 6.03 (from RPM) and even pulled/compiled latest source from git. 6.0.3-pre7. No love. My boot client can boot/image fine in legacy PXE mode. My dhcpd.conf looks like this: # In initial DHCP DISCOVER packet, PXE client sets option

pxelinux 6.03 in UEFI qemu/tianocore/ovmf: does not work
Hello. I played with UEFI PXE booting the other day, and as usual, used qemu/kvm virtual machine for initial testing/debugging, because it is way easier and faster for this task than using a real hardware. However, it looks like either qemu or {pxe, sys}linux 6.03 is buggy, -- the two does not play well together. When booting, the system successfully loads syslinux.efi, at least the tftp server

qemu uefi boot
I am trying to play with qemu uefi booting... I found the OVMF package and installed it. I added the "-bios /usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd" to my command line. when running it says cannot load "/usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd" The file is there. I'm trying this on CentOS 7.6 How do I correctly boot UEFI with qemu ? Thanks Jerry

UEFI on CentOS 8.1
Are UEFI clients still not possible on 8.1 ? I was looking for a setup in the GUI and dont see it. Searching "suggests" that --boot-uefi may be a command line option - but again I see nothing on the GUI. Thanks Jerry

libvirt and UEFI/SecureBoot
Hi! I'm working currently on integration of UEFI/SecureBoot support into oVirt. And I have several questions about UEFI/SecureBoot support in libvirt. Can you please help me with them? For UEFI I add the following to the XML: <loader readonly="yes" secure="no" type="pflash"> /usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd </loader> <nvram
