Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04
I was trying to get Samba4 [as a DC] setup on Ubuntu 18.04
However, I'm having quite a lot of difficulty.
Has anyone successfully setup a samba4/adc on Ububtu 18.04 - and if so, have a quick walk-through. It would save me a lot of time, I expect.
[Yeah, I know 18.04 has been out all of a week, but someone has to go first!]
TIA

Moving mail servers, moving mailboxes
So, I've done some searching - but search terms are hard to come by,
that work, for this query.
In short, migrating a RHEL 5.9 server running the back-ported Dovecot 1.0.7
To: Ububtu 12.04 with 2.0.19, I believe.
[I'm not against compiling a more recent version if there's some real
advantage to doing so. But I'd certainly prefer to stay with the
packaged version.]

Updating problems
Hi, Im new at linux, I have Ububtu installed and I had wine 0.9.9
working properly. I uninstalled it and install wine 0.9.12 but when I
tried to launch "uninstaller" it gives me the following message:
wine client error:2d: version mismatch 229/232.
Your wineserver binary was not upgraded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still

User names not replicating to secondary DC
I have 2 Ububtu DCs. One acting as a secondary/failover. At one point
the users were replicated from primary to secondary. But now they are not
replicating.
The output from samba-tool drs showrepl is attached. What else may I
provide to aid diagnostics?
I know Samba does not replicate sysvol 'yet', so rsync is needed, but that
does not seem to contain the users.
Thank you,

How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi.
I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and
I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able
to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE.
The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are
conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes
ages untill a VM can

[SelectionDAG] Assertion due to MachineMemOperand flags difference.
Hello,
I've hit an assertion in SelectionDAG where we try to merge 2 loads
that have the same operands but their MMO flags differ. One is
dereferenceable and one is not. I'm not sure what the underlying issue
here is:
1) MDSDNode with the same operands should have the same flags set on
their respective MMO. The fact the flags differ when the
opcode,types,operands and address-space are

Inconsistent iptables forwarding rules for virtual networks?

Bug report
as everyone deserves to know when things go wrong:
i'm trying to flash the bios on my IBM T20 laptop. i've got a floppy image, and am attempting to use memdisk with grub to boot it via the following:
title Flash T20 Bios
root (hd0,0)
kernel /memdisk root=/dev/md0
initrd /T20_flash_floppy.img
that much WORKS.
the interesting part is that the system becomes unresponsive RIGHT AFTER

CentOS 7 host with guests as bridge cannot access host
OK I rebooted.
I changed the NIC from Bridge to Passthrough, hit apply, then changed it to
bridge and hit apply, then booted the VM.
My firewall looks better but still not working.
iptables -L FORWARD -v -n | egrep '(policy|virbr1)'
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes)
0 0 ACCEPT all -- eth0 virbr1 0.0.0.0/0

Libvirt and iptables rule order
Hi,
On RHEL 5.5, I set up iptables rules for forwarding ports to some of my
virtual machines. For example.
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 3380 -j DNAT
--to-destination 192.168.123.2:3389
iptables -I FORWARD -d 192.168.123.2 -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 3389
-m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT
These worked fine, and I saved them with 'service iptables save'.
