Hai, ? i was reading: ? http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS? which stats : Don't use BIND9_FLATFILE! It's not documented and supported!? ? This is wrong imo.? ? bind9_flatefile works fine, it just does not support multi master dns, and bind9_DLZ does. so you must setup a master/slave setup for bind9 with flatfile ? If you need to run a network with

Thanks for the info, At the moment, I don't have more than 1 DC, but I am planning on doing the bind master/slave thing thing soon using the Linux webserver host. With failover, I don't see why that wouldn't work with multiple DCs (but of course haven't tried yet). In any case, our AD/DC also hosts mail and redirected folders do if it goes down we've got big problem anyway --

I've been using bind9 and DHCP on Samba 4.1.0 thru 4.1.17 and Slackware 64 14.1 for many months now in a production environment and it works just fine. There are a few tweaks here and there to get bind/dhcp to play nicely with Samba ... Note, conf file locations are Slackware, but you'll know where the same thing goes in your distro. In the examples below, my Domain IP range is

I followed the following guides to setup samba as an additional active directory server to my windows server with bind9 dns: https://www.tecmint.com/join-additio...r-replication/<https://www.tecmint.com/join-additional-ubuntu-dc-to-samba4-ad-dc-failover-replication/>

Horrible BIND9_DLZ DNS breakage after DC replaced and samba-tool domain demote --remove-other-dead-server
In addition with Rowlands comment. I suggest you try /etc/hosts add only 127.0.0.1 localhost Now type Hostname -f Hostname -s Hostname -d Hostname -I Are these all correct? > No, Edit resolv.conf domain samba.ifa.net search samba.ifa.net ifa.net nameserver 127.0.0.1 What happens now if you try the above command. Correct? Yes => correct your hosts and resolv.conf No || \/

RNDC errors using SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS
Hi all, I've set up a simple domain using Samba 4.4.2 from source under Ubuntu 16.04. I accepted the usual defaults and basically followed wiki.samba.org to the letter. The main thing is I'm using Samba's internal DNS and not Bind (Bind is not even installed on the system). In the log.samba file on the first DC I kept getting this: [2016/04/28 17:01:02.716292, 0]

FW: samba_kcc issue after joining the domain as a DC
I'm sorry, after double-checking the Louis's link I've found that the domain zone should be domain-wide, while the _msdcs stuff should be forest wide. I'll change it and try again. Apologies. >>>>> # samba-tool dns zonelist 172.26.1.81 >>>>> Password for [administrator at domain.com]: >>>>> 2 zone(s) found >>>>>

Bind9_DLZ DNS updating
Still pursuing my strange problem with windows clients randomly (2 or 3 a day on a network of about 200 pc's) ?not allowing logins until reboot. Nailing down some best practises in an attempt to fix. My best guess is that it's a Kerberos issue --sensitive to time sync and DNS. -- Installed chrony instead of ntpsec (seems to perform as advertised) -- (Today) moved to BIND9_DLZ instead of

DDNS Error
It's me again :-) Now we have DDNS with DHCP running but we have a problem on one of our two DCs. Btw we used the setup and the script from wiki. TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hello, I still receive this error in my log.samba and when running '/samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names'. Has this been fixed completely? Searching through the archives I see this post https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2013-February/090408.html. Using Samba 4.1.7 with Ubuntu Server 12.04. My understanding is the update still succeeds but the error is
